I see no reason why they won't be at least equal to yours.

it was a referendum to either leave or stay in the common market,we were already in pal, took in by ted heath, it was a trading block,**** all to do with a european parliament and the treaties which followed ,67% of voters in 1975 voted to remain part of a trading block and nothing else, had the common market remained just that then there would not have been calls for a referendum on staying or leaving the european political union...to claim the european project is the same now as in 1975 is utter fcukin claptrap.

orsen' blames the tories for being anti eu and he expresses concern that for the majority of his life there has been a tory government, well Ted Heath took us into the common market without the consent of the people and it was harold wilson of labour that initiated the 1975 referendum as many labour mp's,activists and trade unions were against the common market, the following masstricht treaty in 1992,(the single biggest constitution change in europe) was accepted by a tory government, again with labour in uproar about it and this is why tony blair promised a referendum,..The tories, even now have a majority in excess of 50 mp's who are still pro europe.

UKIP were formed out of a political regime that refused to listen to the public( mp's on all sides of the house have know for decades the level of public opinion on the eu),the tories and labour both promised referendums and both didnt so ukip saw a chance to represent a huge swaithe of the public, both the tories and labour are responsible for the rise of ukip( and even the bnp) as voters felt there was nowhere else to turn, the rise of ukip in particular forced a cameron to offer the vote.and rightly so in the opinion of many

P S,Cameron and the tories only offered a referendum 25year after Maastricht because they thought enough of the people who were against it were either dead or had forgotten what the fuss was all about, the thought the vote would be to remain and their propaganda leaflet actively encouraged us to remain, propaganda at a cost of 9 million to the tax payer.

You state that leaving the EU will result in cheaper labour and austerity.

But doesn't free movement result in cheap labour? And the austerity has been dictated by Brussels - just look at the latest row between Italy and the EU about Italy's budget.

Lol. For the EU 27 in the Euro, Brussels is dictating austerity. The EU have told Italy that their latest proposed budget is in breach of their rules.

i know pal,you dont need to convince me,they've also had more than a helping hand in our austerity drive,

According to the European Union’s Maastricht criteria, EU member states may not have a budget deficit that exceeds three percent of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or a national debt that exceeds of sixty percent of the GDP.

there are two way to tacle deficit, either invest or cut and us,like the rest of them chose cuts

its funny how ,not long after the referendum, the eu took us off the list list of countries with excessive (using their criteria) deficit

We haven't needed Brussels to give us austerity so far. The Tories are experts at it. Real wages are a third less than in 2008.

What, that people don't want to read a Ukip manifesto? I've read them all, because I used to have a job in which it was useful to keep up, and nobody should feel like they're missing out if they don't. It's exactly what anyone would expect coming from that lot - half-baked economics, daft schemes dressed up as 'common sense' and a side order of pound shop jingoism.

Absolutely nobody who disagrees with you is going to change their mind based on reading any of that nonsense.

But that's not my point. My point is that that the EU are imposing austerity on member states such as Italy and Greece, and those governments cannot do anything about it.

    I didn't mention our government.

your views are your views marlon but your interpretation of the 75 referendum is completely wrong

you said it was to become a member of the european union, it was not it was to remain or leave a common market that we were already in, one that we had been taken into with no ratification by the public and under the stewardship of the tories

it was a vote on the common market not a further integrated political union ,a political union that was flatly denied by both the then common market and the tories.

just out of interest which of their policies are half baked economics and which are 'daft' schemes? i'm asking because after seeing your comment i decided to look at their 2018 manifesto.

i'm not asking you to change your mind, more just to clarify which points you refer to.

Austerity started when Cameron became PM nearly 10 years ago. If the EU was responsible for austerity we'd have had it under every government going back over 40 years.

The EU's case against Italy is about their budget deficit. Italy wants to increase it by borrowing to pay for social reforms. They could if they wanted to pay for those reforms by increasing taxes on the rich or on goods or whatever but they don't want to upset anyone through higher taxes so they want to borrow instead. It's Italy's choice whether they implement the reforms or not.

But you just keep sticking up for the posh boys in the Tory Party by blaming their ills on the EU.

the eu can DEMAND austerity in countries in the Eurozone ,had our currency been the euro then the eu would have demanded it here also,

we did however follow their criteria on budget deficit and as a member state we agreed to this and tackled it with austerity, for people to say that the eu had no influence on austerity here is nonsense.
