Had one disallowed and either hit the bar or forced a good save in second half, can't remember which. I don't think he had a great game, but was a goal threat. Good player, regardless of how he did against us. Won't be at Gillingham long if he keeps scoring.
Eaves was garbage against us. Couldn't trap a bag of sand and we completely nullified him. Movement and causing us issues wise Ladapo from Plymouth really sticks out in my mind. Not the greatest finisher though. Had he been, Plymouth would have beaten us.
Tbh no one has caused us many problems at well imo . We’ve caused our own problems . Marquis never got a kick I think The obvious dangers from the opposition have been easily dealt with it’s the unexpected misplaced or wayward passes by our own players have done for us mostly at oakwell anyway . I haven’t seen a team better than us imo
Good player is Herbie Kane but I thought we were discussing strikers , Kane plays in midfield & is not a Donny player , he is on loan from Liverpool
Just an overall lack of movement and quality. He knows where the net is at our level and below but I don’t see him having an ability to progress beyond it. Whereas Moore isn’t the greatest finisher but has a bit extra in terms of movement and pace I’m probably wrong though I often am.
The only thing I can really remember of his performance at Oakwell is the open net he missed. Must have been an off day as his record is pretty impressive this season.
The thing with Eves is that he is playing in a Gillingham side that has mainly struggled this season, but he has still done very well , I think if he was playing in one of the top sides he would be provided with more opportunities & do even better but I think he will be moving to a higher division & will kick on .
Was he the big lad with the man bun? If thats him i dont kno what all the fuss is about cos he was bloody awful when they came to well.
You really are trying to be pedantic with this aren’t you. Irrespective of which club a player belongs to if they’re playing for the opposition then they are your opponent. He played an attacking type role against us, didn’t do much defending and was always up front wanting the ball, that constitutes a forward in my book ok, #Tomeaveswascrapagainstus
I am not being pedantic at all unless pedantic means my opinion is different than yours , we were discussing strikers & clearly Kane who is a very good midfielder ,who chips in with his share of goals is not a striker . I will put it this way , if we were replacing Moore , would you want a striker in or a midfielder who can contribute with a few goals ?
You said it was my opinion and I already said it wasn’t just my opinion many of those around me thought he was crap. I know where Kane plays, but he was very much in a forward role against us playing just behind Marquis. In fact, the number of times Marquis was caught offside Kane probably played even further forward. You are now turning this into a different discussion by suggesting a replacement for Moore. If Moore left I would like a similar type of player who could cause problems in the air as well as on the ground. You were on about Eaves having being the best opposing striker ar Oakwell this year. I think quite a few strikers have had decent games against us. I mentioned 2 as examples. Kane was played in a more advanced role against us just behind Marquis and that’s why I saw him as a forward against us. Back to the Original point, Eaves was poor against us. BtW, was using my typo Maine for Kane not being pedantic then?
I hear what you are saying and Maine was a striker with Doncaster so no i was not being pedantic, but the subject was Eves who leads the line for his club as does Moore with us & if you cannot see the comparison ,who is being pedantic now ? As for Eves , we will agree to disagree , I personally believe he will go on to a higher level , we will wait & see .
Again you are taking the discussion away from what I initially posted. I never made any comment about where he may or not play in the future, Of course you were being pedantic about the Maine comment
