Coincidence really, to bring up God in a Paul Heckingbottom thread. Both were once universally praised and could do no wrong.
In the end they just turned out to be ridiculous liars who would contradict everything they claimed they stood for, and are now slipping into obscurity.

How can God be a liar?

Whichever God you choose, it was man who gave him voice.

Ultimately people will believe what they want to believe.

What people should bear in mind is whether a manager wants a player or not he will say he wants him because otherwise his position becomes untenable.

We had the press conference when Heckingbottom sat & said we’d got too many attack minded central midfielders & he needed a holding midfielder & a striker to play his preferred 4-4-2. A few days later Stevie Mallan joined the club & Heckingbottom was singing his praises. If people honestly thought he wanted Mallan then I think you’re kidding yourselves.

Having ‘final say’ on transfers is pretty laughable when you are given a choice of 3 players all under 25 with no championship experience.

I’m pretty certain if a fairly recently retired manager had a proper say on transfers he wouldn’t have filled his squad with kids & there’s a good chance he’d have signed a few experienced pro’s he played with or against.

I’m sure he had some input on signings, for example if he picked out a player that fitted the clubs recruitment strategy (under 25 & cheap) then they may well sign him. Logic would suggest Lloyd Isgrove was one of these.

From all the interviews I’ve listened to my belief is the say he had was from a shortlist & he was frustrated because he wasn’t able to sign players who didn’t fit the clubs criteria.

You're assuming a) there is a god, b) that if there was a god, there is only one, and c) that this said god is male.

Hecky knew of Leeds' interest in him when he signed his new contract with us. It was all about getting some money for Barnsley F.C to try and soften the blow of him leaving.

The club should have been laughing all the way to the bank when he left. However, they contrived to get relegated and lose millions in the process.

So why did he kick up a fuss that when the CEO left he had to handle all the transfer activity himself as well as coach the team. Why at several fans forums has it been stated on the record that whilst they had management performing the recruitment process, Hecky was involved and gave input. How much or how little we don't know but certainly it wasn't zero as you Imply.

It's still basing your argument on the words of a man who has previously said the exact opposite of what is in the podcast.

I thought Hecky was a good manager. I also think we brought in players without his input and I said this consistently throughout his tenure But I also have to admit he has said mamy words to the contrary and therefore cannot really use his words to strengthen my argument because he's inconsistent and his words can just as easily be used to weaken my argument.

If it's true that Hecky had no say in signings, then does that mean he takes no credit for the promotion or Jpt trophy win?

    Can't have it both ways.

He inherited a great set of players that had already started winning games. I've always given him credit for keeping them winning. Don't think Johnson would have done it, but if we're going down the route of admonishing him of any responsibility, then that surely works both ways.

Could even be said that he inherited a good set of players at Leeds, and couldn't get them going, but I'm sure that'll not be his fault either.

All managers could say they weren't allowed to sign their choice of players when it suited their argument, but given our budget, who would Hecky have brought in if given a free hand?

If we could make Hecky Brexit Secretary it would narrow the issues. I’d like him to be reappointed and get us into Europe where we would remain indefinitely.
