They are only skint when it suits them with the council track record traffic will be worse after this has been done

I wonder what the dimwits plans are for easing traffic between wilthorpe and haigh with the building of another couple of hundred houses. They really are as thick as pigshit

I'd be interested to see what you have seen to convince you that this will improve matters? I'm not saying it won't, but I haven't seen anything that suggests that the inevitable expense and loss of green space will be worth it?

Just an observation, but as the plans have been under scrutiny, the past few months, the difficulties have been noticeably worse, and at strange times of the day. I have been in a car with three different people who have all independently suggested that the timings on the traffic lights have been "adjusted" to make the situation worse than it actually is?

Stairfoot roundabout, Cundy Cross, Down by Wickes. Not exactly a roaring success any of them.

I've never known so much traffic as recently ,even during the day , I queued all the way from Monk Bretton down Burton Road today at 12.30 dinner time , it's ridiculous . The run up to Christmas is always bad but this year seems worse than ever .

Ken Livingston did that in London, then brought in the congestion charge..

Birdwell. Shocking, and a tragedy waiting to happen outside Aldi,

It's unique , I've done a lot of driving around the country and you won't see another crossroads like it . They should bottle it then chuck it in the Dearne . On a side note the skint council installed a 'Pegasus' crossing for horse riders on the old railway line in Ward Green at a snip of 30k of taxpayers money just to save the horse riders dismounting and pressing the lower button . You couldn't make it up .

Until they changed it I honestly can't remember waiting at the old roundabout for longer than a few minutes in any direction. Now when I go through from Monk Bretton I am queuing from Monk Bretton and it can take fifteen minutes to get through. Then you have the unbridled joy of joining the queue for Stairfoot roundabout.

On the odd occasion that the traffic lights are out of order, at Stairfoot roundabout, it runs like clockwork.
Also, I think I'm right in saying that the lights at the Alhambra roundabout were turned off on an evening, once rush hour had passed, but this worked so well, they never bothered to turn them back on.

The first thing is living in Pogmoor for 37 years, the last 27 within sight (just about) of the proposed new system. Traffic from the lights at Dodworth Road/Pogmoor Road regularly stretches back round as far as the Tommy Treddlehoyle at peak times, so in my view it is worth doing something about it.The new scheme would appear to provide three lanes for traffic in several directions, which ought to help it disperse more quickly. That will be important in future, given the amount of new development which has to be provided for under the Local Plan. The second thing is that it seems to me that the signalling system put in at Junction 37 has improved matters there, albeit traffic is still heavy. Hopefully the proposed gyratory will similarly help traffic flow further down Dodworth Road. The third thing is that I had a look on the council's website at the full report for today's planning meeting. It's interesting (if lengthy) reading, and does not skirt over the downsides of the scheme in terms of loss of green space or detriment to some local residents. It concludes however that to take no action is unjustifiable given present and anticipated future levels of traffic. The members of the Planning Board of course have to balance these interests in deciding whether to follow the recommendations of the planning officer.

The council instantly made Pogmoor Dodworth Rd junction more conjestured when they built Horizon . There are no plans to charge to enter the town centre like there are for Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster. The plan for Barnsley is to force congestion to the outskirts Cundy Cross, Barugh Green Stairfoot and the next one will be Cutting Edge.

Cheers. I also lived in Poggy up until I got married, and since then have been a regular on Poggy Rd going to and from family in Old Town. I would agree that the traffic has got worse over recent years. That said, I can't think of a road that hasn't. It's volume of traffic everywhere. Having viewed the council documents, I am simply not convinced that this very expensive and totally disruptive proposal will make that much of a difference. Having seen the gyratory at Birdwell taking shape, and the end result, I'd say that my journey time through that area is no shorter, possibly longer, and considerably more hazardous. Time will tell, and if it does improve, I'll come on here and say as much. One thing is for sure that even if there is an improvement, it will only be temporary. I don't have the answers, I'm just not fond of this one.

A very radical idea I know but stop any new drivers or limit number of new drivers for a few years ,

On my last visit I went on the A61 towards Sheffield. Having encountered the Birdwell...… creation, for the first time..... I've sadly had to withdraw from any future Krypton Factor applications.
