I agree with that but surely they should listen to all sides.

I just can’t fathom why people invest so much time & money into a football club & then aren’t interested in listening to both sides of an argument.

People are acting like Heckingbottom never stops talking about Barnsley, I think there’s been one article & 2 Sky TV appearances as a pundit, he’s said barely anything, I want him to talk more, I want Morais to talk about Barnsley, Johnson to talk about Barnsley, Flitcroft to talk about Barnsley etc. We get to hear virtually nothing as football fans after managers leave clubs.

I doubt he’d ever say it out of respect for the players but I’d love to know exactly what happened in January 2017 & which players were pushing for transfers & how they went about it.

I think there’s a lot of people who just don’t want to hear anything different to what they want to believe

Simple answer to that mate, is people from the club keep everything in house to a greater extend, and this isn't the first time Hecky has spoken about the club.

One interview would have sufficed, but he just keeps repeating the same stuff to anyone that will listen.

Time he moved on, and let us do the same.

What’s interesting about that interview is that he keeps referring to the “ceo” of Barnsley to whom he says he had a difficult relationship with. Signing players behind his back etc. That must’ve been hard to cope with and he also says he had many of argument with Patrick Cryne although he had the utter most respect for

It all seemed to go downhill in his eyes since Ben Mansford left who he speaks highly of

I’m not sure what to make of his reflection at Barnsley as he is definitely keeping things close to his chest and will never let on the full extent of why he found it unbearable towards the end

All we can gather from it is that he didn’t get on with Mr Ganaye although on the surface suggested otherwise

One thing is clear is that he couldn’t work under the current infrastructure to which the new regime clearly can

Thank you for all the great memories but now is time to move on and look to hopefully more success and heroics

There is one thing that sticks in my mind about Hecky. After the Jan 17 transfer window debacle we played Wolves at home and as usual I sat in the west lower, not far off where Hecky had pointed out he used to stand with his grandad. We lost a game we might easily have won a couple of months earlier. There was one point in the game I saw Hecky turn and stare at the west lower and you could see the frustration writ large on his face. A few minutes later he had a thromby and was sent off. Whether it was a fire sale by the owners or a legacy of his assistant agitating players to move on, I think he realised at that moment the club as it then stood, could not go any higher and was going backwards at a rate of knots. I'd always suspected he started sounding out jobs from then on

But he doesn’t. That’s what I don’t get, he’s barely sad anything yet people make out as if he’s said loads. However, I wish he had I want to know a lot more.

He’s only had 2 jobs so until that changes he’s going to get asked about Barnsley.

Just my opinion but i think he originally fully signed on to "the plan" but then later and woth an increased work load he began realising ...the plan.....was un workable.
He told them so....and the difference of opinion plus some other things lead him to believe he was falliing through a trap door.

I was relieved when he went as if he had stayed I'm convinced it was only going one way. If we had appointed a decent manager I think We would have survived. Some on here believe every word he says for gospel, make excuse after excuse for him and would of been still singing "he's one of our own" and be blaming the plan and everyone else if he was still here an we were bottom of this league. I won't be listening to it I've heard him contradict himself enough times. I know lee Johnson isn't like but it's like lee Jay blaming the players after every one of the 9 games in a row we lost then leaving to Bristol and slagging the recruitment system at oakwell off and making excuse after excuse up....

The same crown jewels who would have left for Jack **** in the summer. So we would have been in the same situation without any money from sales.

Good post. Feels like most bar Hecky have moved on now and hope he can do the same for his sake.

I remember thinking something wasn’t right when he was touted as being in line for another job - think it was forest? Someone asked Patrick and he made a comment along the lines of he should show everyone he’s as good a manager as he thinks he is. I’m not sure there was much love between the board and Hecky at the end.

I do hope we have realised you need to work with your management team to get the best results on and off the pitch.

I’m not arguing that point, but what if we would have got in the play offs with that squad? It definitely gives you more bargaining chips to get some to sign a new contract etc.

It’s all ifs and buts, but if you are the manager and your team gets ripped to pieces it’s hard to see the end game. You don’t care about the financials unless you get the money to buy similar or upgraded players. He got neither.

The result was, we ended up a league below.

Why are we not moving on from the days of hecki personally I'm glad he's gone there is no way we would have been seeing a team near the top of the league with him in charge . Never mind a physio we would have needed a depression councillor on board and not only from a team point of view

Move on and face it he has probably the worst management record in the football league

I hate to break it to you but we had a team near the top of the league under Hecky.

Enjoyed it a good listen anyway. Probably needs to get a job somewhere now and stop with the interviews. Good luck to him.

It wouldn't have gave us any power if we had got in the play offs or not we couldn't give Conor 27k a week like villa or winnall 19k like Wednesday. Hecky said himself we couldn't bring in proven championship players as we couldn't compete with wages so we had to give young players a chance to prove them self.

What I took from it was in every role he talked about he had issues with his boss and was looking at leaving, from being a youth team coach through to a manager.
and even if we had look at Reading, play off final and then in a relegation scrap with us following year so investing I like he says didn’t make them that good has it.

I'm sure this isn't the first time he's been interviewed. Didn't the Yorkshire post also do a similar thing?

If I hadn't heard or read this stuff from him before, then I wouldn't have made the comment.

Interesting and lengthy interview with a thoughtful and intelligent coach.

There is no reason to doubt his account of the internal running of the club, and it confirms the impression that the club lacks a clear strategy or a willingness to improve the current squad.

Apart from the interviews where he said the internal
running of the Club was good.
