Old regime sells a player = prudent.

New regime sells a player = plundering us.

That about the size of it?

No. It is about the size of it for a few but a LOT slagged off the old regime when they sold the assets too.

You didn’t feel inclined to pop by and say something positive during our successful festive period then?

So far for me the situations aren’t even close to comparable.

On one hand we sold our two best players for practically nothing and effectively surrendering any chance of play off contention that season as there was no way we could replace them two that quickly.

On the other hand we’ve sold a workhorse striker and replaced him with a better one for less money. And now we’ve sold a good league one centre midfielder who was playing out of position all season for a large profit and we’ve got 27 days to replace him with an actual winger.

What relevance does this have to the discussion? Here's a positive for you - if we've got owt like 1.5m for Potts then I think it's a good deal. For us.

Not for me. I got extremely disillusioned with our business model under the last regime and I'm no more enthusiastic about it now. I had hoped that there may be a subtle change in direction but it seems my hopes were misplaced. Time will tell.

I'd go with the old regime HAD to sell players to keep us self sufficient. ..just about.
    The new regime don't.
I'm ok with the sale of Potts IF we reinvest or someone like Bahre blossoms as his replacement. As I've said elsewhere I rated Potts at this level, not convinced of his championship credentials though.

Have to agree Mario. This sends out a depressing message. Most of us that are blessed with eyesight could see what a player Potts was last season. He had to step up into a weakened team full of kids & still did well in my book. This season he was, I think to quote you, "the beating heart of the team". Where is the heart transplant coming from? Not Moncur.

we never replaced Bradshaw really. We needed another striker before he left, thats why when Moore got injured Jacob Brown went upfront. Only tonight Winkler was on radio dee dar saying nobodys going because promotion is so important, on the same day we sell one of our best players. Its barmy really. £6m in the chamionship 600k in league 1, thats where the money is and will we bring in somebody whos as good and ready to go striaght away...im not so sure and if we do it will probably be on the 31st at aif 11 at neet.

I don't think we had to sell to the extent that we did and I will nene change my mind on that. However it's been done to death.

We have twenty-eight days to bring in a replacement and we might actually bring in someone better than Brad Potts. He will go down is a small footnote in BFC history and being part of one the worst seasons I have ever had the misfortune to witness. Some folk are acting as if we have sold Neil Redfearn.

I don’t remember many people defending the old regime selling as prudent more like inevitable because of crap contracts. What’s the excuse now?

So basically you’ve just reversed your theory to
    Old owners plundering
    New owners prudent

Well I liked some parts of his game and I'd rather have kept him but we'll see where the next few weeks takes us in terms of replacements.

I wasn't really offering a theory. However, if we get more for Brad Potts than we did for Sam Winnall it's either a good deal or borderline negligence.

But Mario the new owners have always said they liked the business model but they would be able to do it better ( paraphrase I know) so we are always going to sell players on to clubs higher up the pyramid. The key thing is how its done - Potts on a decent length contract so we could hold out for a decent fee - unlike the fire sale of players with only 6 months left on their contract last time, also its important how may players go at a time - one per window isnt unreasonable - if we sell 3 or 4 of our core players then you are completely right above.
    Potts I am dissapointed
If Moncur goes or Jackson - I dont think thats a big deal
Thiam or McGeehan - I start getting more concened though not panicing
if Moore Woodrow Pinnock Lindsay Dougal or Mowatt go in addition to Potts I will be very worried
