A serious question as they brought in many pound notes as well as Conor, Bree and Winall. And we don’t seem to have spent anywhere near that amount
Day to day running of the club takes a fair chunk. I doubt it could survive on just ticket sales alone like some Prem clubs can survive regardless of tickets sold.
Day to day running of the club, Academy,7 signings in the owners first window,Dougall,Woodrow ,new contracts offered to players etc.Only guessing but in fairness its not cheap to run a football club.I would imagine there's also funds for future signings.
Would be my guess also but I remember feeling some excitement, particularly when the stones transfer happened ,and be interesting to know if it went to the Crynes , was spent in running club etc . And would help us understand How strong are we financially ?
There aren't many football clubs who are run ethically and lots are or have been run by dodgy businessmen such as Leeds, Newcastle, Chelsea, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Wednesday, Sheff United, Rotherham, Birmingham, Cardiff just off the top of my head. Even Patrick Cryne was under fraud investigations. They're not rich businessmen for nothing, they know the loopholes and how to make money for themselves. That's why most of em are in it and although the Crynes came in at the right time and saved us from admin, I reckon they've made a tidy sum in recent years. I've no faith in club owners any more. The accounts are fudged and just about every transfer we do is for an "Undisclosed fee", why is that? It never used to be like that, we knew how much we got for Ashley Ward, Hignett and how much we paid for each of our Premier League acquisitions but this undisclosed fee business is open to a bit of crafty accounting.
Works both ways folk keep telling us our owners are billionaires and their wealth is not the clubs but when when we rake in millions in transfer fees some how this money is clouded in smoke and mirrors is it the clubs, is it the previous owners, is it sat in a bank account, have we spent it, as a season ticket holder life long supporter who reads every bit of info there is out there even the company's house accounts I have not one clue
I don't for one minute believe it's being channeled into someone's pocket, I'm sure if we really had to we could spend a few million on a player but, generally, the more you pay for a player the more money they're going to want.
Paid in instalments and contributed to the valuation of the club that the new owners paid to purchase from Patrick. Unless they are investing their own money a lot of it will be going to running costs. Until it’s sale PC was still putting £1m a year of his own money into the costs of the academy.
A few facts based on the last filed accounts of the club at 31 May 2017. No debt and £10m on balance sheet. The post event disclosure also showed all Cryne's loans had been repaid with the new owners putting the cash in through a share issue. Given the cash position at 31 May 2017 it will be very interesting to see what has happened in the intervening period for the club to need to sell to be sustainable. Accounts typically filed in March so not long to wait to see what the position looks like a year later.
Can remember Wigan being promoted, there owner at the time the old boy Whelan was wanting to make admission prices ridiculously low due to the sky money etc, the PL wound him in and said " It's not happening " ruining football just IMO btw
Do you have shares in the club or any other substantial investments outside of emotional and a season ticket?
No pal just an emotional season ticket holder like most on here . Reason I brought it up is my 12 yr old lad ( also an emotional season ticket holder ) asked me the question. Where’s all the Stones transfer money gone? Thru the eyes of babes n alll that
I’m hoping that Patrick Crynes family received that money - as Patrick saved the club and kept the club running for years. We shouldn’t need any of that money now - the new owners should be using their own money.
The Ten million pound up last March is interesting plus 2 million for Paul Potts surely we must be at least still Ten million in black this year ?
The next set of accounts are going to be very interesting. Especially as you said we had ten million sat in the club account and now got Ganaye talking like we are skint when selling Potts. All will soon be revealed.
I think a fair chunk went into repaying directors loans / reducing debt / strengthening the balance sheet. Accounts for the year to 31 May 2018 will be published at the end of February.
