Danny Stendals interview after the Burnley match.

    So there we have it.

Stendal wanted Potts to stay as he thinks he’s a good player with a good personality.
Additionally - Danny dosent know if there will be any money to spend from that sale and asks the interviewer to ask Ganaye that question.

So Ganaye sold Potts AGAINST the wishes of our manager.
Which clearly reduces the chances of Barnsley achieving promotion this year.
Why would our CEO do such a thing !?!?!

I PERSONALLY DO NOT WANT TO SUPPORT A TEAM WITH NO AMBITION.

So it would be good to get some answers.
And No smoke and mirrors - like there was with Hecky.

Therefore Whitey - I maybe wrong here but as I understand it you are employed at the club.
Could you ask Ganaye and then post his answers on this message board:

    1) why Potts was sold against the wishes of our manager - who has hauled this team to 4th in the division?

    2) how much does he think the sale of Potts will reduce our chances of promotion?

    3) the Barnsley fans are very astute - they can spot a bullshitter from 1000m - so what strategy does he know of that will get Barnsley promotion while selling your better players?

Jury well and truly ....... OUT !!!

Ganaye is a paid employee. His bosses make the huge multi million pound financial decisions. Don't you see that?

    ...as is Whitey.
Though he wouldn't be for much longer if a private work chat were to be shared on online forums.

Yes because Ganaye said he's going and our board who are above him in the pecking order didn't have a say in it....

How do you not understand that any major decision in a company is down to the owner?

In which case it might be prudent to help Whitey out here.

I can advise that his response is "We'll be alright. Trust me."

If as seems to be the case there was a release clause in Potts contract - once the release clause was met neither Stendel nor GG can force him to stay. If its not the case and the owners wanted to just cash in and take the profit against the wishes of the manager - thats a much different situation and I can agree with most of the OP

Whilst I don’t know who has the final say on transfers I agree with Nudgers sentiment that it isn’t good if Stendel either a) was consulted and said he didn’t want Potts sold, but was over ruled or b) wasn’t even consulted and just found out an integral member of his team was sold.

I don’t know which one I hope is the case. Surely a manager has to have a say somewhere. Let’s hope Stendel isn’t too disheartened. Perhaps he knows the score that he’ll not have a say and players will come and go without his input or knowledge.

Be good to hear from GG at some point on the transfer process.

If they do ...... and I accept this is probably the case - then Ganaye is their spokesperson.
    We still need answers !!!

If these owners think they have bought Barnsley to make a profit - then it WILL NOT work and us as supporters are in for a torrid time.
    As is any management team.

There are still many supporters who do not trust the ownership of the club - this will reinforce their opinions.
They will vote with their feet.
I’m not one of those supporters - but the Potts decision needs some explanation.

Hasn't only one person claimed there was a release clause and that same person claimed that the club willingly inserted the clause into potter's otherwise watertight and long lasting contract? Seems so ludicrous to me I don't think even Barnsley FC would deliberately weaken a contract for no reason

Well put. It would be interesting to see if the money is used to strengthen the squad. If it is, it would soften the blow of losing one of our more effective players going forward.

Agree and this release clause talk seems to have originated on Twitter. I know it’s fairly standard to have a release clause in contracts so could be genuine. I guess the key, having had bids for £1.5m rejected in the summer, is how much it was. If it exists.

I agree with all of that. I only take issue with how you constantly claim Ganaye did this or Ganaye did that when you've just admitted that it's probsprothe case that he isn't doing any of that and is just the spokesperson. You would in my opinion have your views taken more seriously by a lot of people if you directed your anger at the right people. Sure ask Garbage the question but ask Ganaye why did the owners sell Potts rather than asking why HE did it and making him look like the bad guy

I think you may find that you have contradicted yourself, yet again, in this post. Your original opening post stated, and I quote “I PERSONALLY DO NOT WANT TO SUPPORT A TEAM WITH NO AMBITION”

He isn't our manager he is our coach. He's there to coach players so he probably wasn't consulted. He knew what he was taking on as we sold a team from under our previous coach too in Hecky. If he was our manager he would have had more say.

If the CEO (or owners) undermine the management team then that management team will jump ship like Hecky did.

Now we all have our opinions about Hecky - but IMO if Hecky was given a bit of money to spend he would have got us promotion to the Premeir League.
However, the loss of Hecky has been softened because the CEO has brought in a great replacement.
This guy Stendel has got the players running for him - and I for one support him.

BUT ....... if the CEO and owners are going to fook him about ........ then don’t be surprised to see him walk.
    Mark my words on this.

    Agreed.
But that has to be said by the CEO.
The club has just suffered a hit ...... we need to know why.

Regardless of anything - if a player wants to go to a club in a higher league, for more money and to an area of the U.K. he’s spent much time at, then he’ll go.

Happens at bigger clubs than ours - Sanchez, Van Persie, Henry etc.

Once the head has been turned, so long as the player has been respectful about it, then usually the club will simply just tie up the best deal they can.

Keeping a player who might have wanted to go, doesn’t work and is risky (Matty Done etc).

A good player, but we’ll be ok, as proved today.
