Its a definite penalty - true he made a meal of it but he beat the keeper to the ball and there was no way he could have avoided being flattened the way the keeper came flying out.
Played for the penalty rather than trying to score. Got what he wanted was going down before the contact was made. Tough call for any ref.
It was even in the box- I seem to remember (non) offences only need to be committed within 5 yards of the box for Leeds to be awarded penalties against us
Yep Darren Deadman at Roland road . I was bang inline with it. It was a full yard or so outside the box! At least!!
Penalty. But the player was on the way down before the goalie clattered him. I think the Ref should have awarded the penalty and booked the player for the dive....
Dive all day long. Pushes the ball one way and bellyflops over the keeper in the opposite direction. Wouldn't have merited a foul anywhere else on the pitch.
It can be a dive and a foul, it doesn't have to be one or the other. under Law 12 of the FA’s Laws of the Game, that a player should be cautioned for ‘unsporting behaviour’. Unsporting behaviour includes ‘attempts to deceive the referee e.g. by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)’.
exactly right, although I've never seen a referee actually enforce the rules of the game properly in these circumstances
