Ponty end for me - or Ora stand as mentioned.

One of the (many) things that annoys me though is how the club call it the South stand. It's not. It's any one of the names above, but not the South stand.

After we've decided on Ponty or Ponte, maybe we can debate the pronunciation of Stendel, Winkler, Stern and Bähre.

When we at the club don’t refer to it as the CK Beckett South Stand, we only refer to it as the Ponty End.

    So that’s official.

It’s been good fun telling Daniel that certain naughty English words actually mean ‘thanks’ in English.

Surely now that we have multi-national owners and a French connection we should embrace this and refer to it as the Ponté end?

Away End???? T'was always the Kop when I was a lad (the lower part being concrete terracing and higher up was basically a slag heap :)

I've always thought of it as the Ponty End. I agree with Tekkytyke that the opposite end was always Spion Kop, or Kop for short, named after a battle in (I think) the Boer War; in big Cup games where you had to buy tickets the tickets used to say Spion Kop. The away end was irrelevant for the first twenty or so years of my watching The Reds as anyone could walk round the ground at half time and change ends. Where the East Stand is now I thought of as the Brewery Side - it also had behind it the poorer cousin of the West Stand Bogs. My memory may be playing tricks with me but I think the standing area in front of the old stand (now seats, of course) used to be called the Paddock on Cup tickets - but I may be confusing this with the "Brewery side".

Always knew the stands as Ponty End, Paddock, Kop and Terrace. Never called the paddock the Brewery Stand till later.

The Paddock is what in the 80s became known as the Brewery Stand - now East Stand.

Standing area in front of the old stand was called the Terrace.

The old stand was called simply The Stand - because we only had one. And what an ironic name considering you went there to sit down.
