Pretty obvious but he was offered a new deal but made it clear pretty quickly to the club a while back that he wouldn't be extending his stay. Stated family reasons which I believe, it's clear he'd be far happier down south near his family especially with a baby on the way. The fee we received is nothing ground breaking (not sure how much) but it's better than receiving nothing for a player that we very rarely start with anyway. For what it's worth his attitude in training has been fantastic, not forced a move etc which, fair play, many other a player would have. Good luck George, sorry it never quite worked out for you here. There's a cracking player in there somewhere, no doubt we will see it now he's left us.
Still a bit confused as to why we offered him a new deal. Presumably just so we could sell him, never quite worked out being code for total waste of time who had about 5 good games (60 mins) i dont think there is a player in there myself. Ability yes, a player? No not for me.
Because if you don’t offer him a new deal he is able to sign a pre contract agreement now, to leave in the summer for nothing.
No he hasn't. He's been offered ancontra cand turned it down. At no point has he tried to force us to sell him
No he hasn't at all, forcing a move is handing in a transfer request or demanding to be sold inn the window. Forcing a move is not rejecting a new deal, he could have stayed until the end of the season with no issues. It was the clubs decision to sell, not George's.
His Mrs's Legends Suite experience, reaction and subsequent trolling from our supporters, won't have helped either.
Sorry supertyke (and I havent got the best spell check going either) but if I'd been offered an ancontra cand I think I'd have turned it down aswell. Seriously, he lives near me and only ever rented which to me says this was only ever a temporary thing for him.
Doesn't bode well for us then mate as I'd say 95% of our current squad only rent their homes. Way of the footballing world now pal.
But an ancontra cand is a special mystical thing. I've got 3 they're great. I know this is a stupid question but do you live in Darfield? Didn't think that would be up Moncurs street.
I liked George great to watch at times fast feet lovely on the ball. The down side was he had tendency to go missing in games especially when we were up against it he was also not as hardworking as bahre without the ball. Shame it hasn't worked out here. He was really good with that poorly little girl when he 1st joined. good to see there is a sell on involved because they is some player there. All the best George.
Hi Supertyke, great to virtually meet someone who can take a joke mate. No I am from Darfield, the 138 is my my crap idea of a tribute to the 138 lads who we sent to WW1 and never came back. I have lived all over the country but have settled in Cumberworth, but still regard Barnsley as home (its a state of mind not a state of geography)
I have no idea where Cumberworth is but it sounds posh. The amount of people who died during the two world wars is really hard to comprehend. It's only when you break it down into 138 local lads that you realise how many it was
Only with foreign clubs, I guess the thought was we may be able to sell him at a later date. Not really fussed on him leaving anyway.
This doesnt surprise me. I know a few people who have had dealings with him locally and everybody has said under the WAG type image, he is a nice bloke. Wish him well, it's not like he was our leading scorer who walked out on us to join a local rival. If we were a band and he had left, both sides would probably be quoting "artistic differences"
He wasn’t a first team player. He had his chance. No loss. His sale is not nearly on the same scale of disappointment that was felt by many fans after the Brad Potts sale.
do keep up Plobby, three posts prior. Being new to this, I did pick up on this, but, although supertyke took it in good fun, I have made a rock for my back as no doubt I'll have to spell check everything from now on. LOL
