Moncur tires quicker and more severely than the vast majority of professional footballers and as such he rarely produces for more than 45 minutes in a game. If he's in the starting line up, he's up against fresh legs so he often tires himself out without causing the opposition too many difficulties. His attitude, at times, can definitely be questioned. I've seen a few games where he didn't give his all and I find that difficult to watch and still like the player in question. When he's running with the ball he can look as graceful as any player I've seen but he often runs up blind alleys or makes the wrong pass. Through lack of natural fitness and/or an unwillingness to dig deep he often won't chase back leaving us terribly exposed. I think we have better options, certainly for the starting line up, but if Bahre is on the bench then also as for substitutes. For all the above reasons I have no problem with us selling him. But to a promotion rival? Against tired legs in the last half an hour Moncur can be very effective. We have a number of players that are so won't really miss him. Luton may not. They've got one now. A motivated George Moncur used primarily as an impact sub could be worth 10 points to Luton in the run in. I think he's more than capable of turning 5 games where the scores are level into a win for Luton if he comes off the bench. That could put them in the automatic places and us in the playoffs..
@Merde Tete http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23703265 An article from the BBC in 2013 about all the tricks players use to engineer moves. If it was happening in 2013, you can bet it is still happening today.
To be fair, the article was penned by Robbie Savage who was, and still is a total arse. So I cannot say that all this goes on all of the time but to a lesser extent I would say some of those points are used by players to leave clubs. My point about BFC is that when we just sort of "roll over" and sell it sends a message to the other players who may have born witness to the antics outlined in the article by a player, they now know just what to do to get their move.
I remember when they first joined us & they did a drive round the town for Barnsley player & they were both laughing & joking that they lived off beans on toast & pot noodles as neither could cook at their previous club. They then both looked the most overweight at the club throughout their time with us. Not the brightest
Talented lad but doesn’t have the footballing brain to go with it. Regularly does daft things like instead of passing to a player in loads of space he’ll run 20 yards towards him & then pass it to him but he’s taken away his space & killed the attack. I keep thinking one day it’ll click with him & he’ll get fit & he’ll start making better decisions with the ball but not sure whether that’ll happen. Don’t have an issue with selling him but do have an issue with flogging him to a promotion rival
