Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he play less than a full game for us? Even if it's slightly more than that, it's nowhere near enough to make a proper judgement on the lad.

You don't have to watch a player to make a judgement. You can make a judgement based on Hecky and then Morais giving him so little game time. If he was up to scratch he would be playing.

I expect both McGheehan and Knasmullner to play a decent part in the season to come.

Really? Allan Clarke had frozen Paul Futcher out of the side at the time of his sacking. Mel Machin brought him back into the side, and we stopped leaking goals almost immediately.

Much more recently, Adam Hammill came to us on trial when no other club would touch him with a bargepole. A lot of people on here wrote him off, despite having not seen him play for years. His return didn't turn out too badly.

Ipswich and Sunderland both considered Connor Hourihane not to be good enough before Plymouth took a chance on him.

Football history is littered with examples of players not getting an opportunity under a certain manager, who then went on to flourish under a different coach and / or in a different system.

Sunderland conned us. It was clearly a different bloke who they sent on loan to the one who turned up on a permanent.

Leave it to the experts then...

As someone, somewhere thinks he can play...

Let's leave everything to the "experts" then and close this board. In fact close all boards.

Me too, I’m going to stick my neck on the line and say he will be a very important player for us.

I will, as I said I was simply giving my opinion based on the thread.

I am sure he was scouted and signed for a reason and hopefully he comes good and can be a big asset in getting us back up but so far in his time at the club he has not shown anything to suggest he should have been bought.

One of the good things about getting a new manager in is players can start with a clean slate to try & impress.
The likes of Thiam, Mowatt, Moncur, Mallan, McGeehan & Knasmullner all have a pre-season too.
I'm pretty sure some will be shipped out, but hopefully the remaining ones will do well.

It’s hard to say when every fees undisclosed & its all guess work.

    For example I’ve heard Thiam’s cost anything between 500k & 1.25m

I thought the latest thinking was that Thiam was less than half a million?
Starting to look like good value for money.
