This is my point Xerxes I have said it before and I will say it again "we have to trust these owners let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks "

    My post:

They're right though. Not that we are falling apart but that we are happy to sell the assets. To rivals. And are seemingly the only one doing it

    Their comments
"From what I can see, Barnsley are the only one of the bigger sides selling players"

"Surprised Barnsley would sell to a promotion rival"

Best players keep being sold since the summer? Bradshaw, Potts & Moncur - in came Dougall, Woodrow & now Green! Woodrow better than Bradshaw, Dougall better than Potts, hopefully same with Green & Moncur. I think Sunderland are hoping we're imploding but 3-0 & 4-1 doesn't sound like it yet!

The counter argument to this of course is that by letting Moncur go it means we can bring in Green plus one other, which could then leave us with a stronger squad than we have now, and therefore making the £6 million promotion dream much more achievable.

For months folk have moaned about not having any wingers and ‘too many number 10’s’. Maybe this move is allowing us to shape the squad better. And if we don’t rate Moncur enough to play him regularly, be brave and not worry about how he’ll play for Luton. If we don’t get promoted it will be down to our own performances and not those of George Moncur.

If we had to sell Moncur to bring in the kid from Yeovil then who's pocketed the Potts money?
Moncur was regularly part of our match day 18 and regularly brought on to play for us. That suggests that Stendel believed he was a valuable squad player. Why would we assume that he would be worthless to Luton unless we are secretly admitting that Lutons 18 man squad was already better than ours?

Having cash vs. having the budget to spend on wages are two very different things, it might be we could afford to throw a couple of million at signings, but in League One the FFP is far stricter and those signings would come with big wages.

Our wage bill is probably maxed out versus our turnover so it’s a simple one in/one out policy. Worthless is a bit strong, but there’s nothing wrong with anyone having the opinion that he isn’t going to be a world beater for them and as a result it isn’t a risk. My view is we worry about our results and how we impact them. Not having Moncur doesn’t impact on our ability to get promoted,

They’re right, it is madness selling to a promotion rival.

I don’t rate Moncur as a starter but even I admit he’s capable of creating or scoring a goal out of nothing so you don’t want him on the bench of a rival

Potts was a asset I'll give you that and we would be better off if he was still here. I was a big moncur fan I'm not going to lie I was screaming for stendel to give him more of a chance and I kept getting shot down I recall you been critical of George in the past and now he is a asset. stendel rated bahre above him he has hone from our ben h and he was on Lutons bench Saturday. Time will tell how much of a asset we lost in moncur but don't slate him and then claim him to be a asset as soon as he leaves.

I slated him last season. I've praised him this season because I thought his work rate had drastically improved. You can go back and search if you want. Or speak to those who sit near me at games.

I have also referred to all players sold as assets for quite some time now, definitely since Patrick was around, it's not a new thing regarding moncur. Simply a fact that if you sell something for cash then it was an asset.

Stendl has already said that Moncur wanted to move back down south and if Luton were the only team to make an offer to buy him then so be it rival or not.

I think to most people including the Sunderland fans, "assets" are the best players. Moncur wasn't one of our best players. Yes every player we have can be sold, but they are not discussing it from a business sense like you appear to be. They are talking as though we are selling our key players.

Let them mock and revel in their supposed superiority!

Most fickle fans in the country are Sunderland next to Newcastle. You’ve only to watch the Netflix documentary to see evidence of this. They’re all mocking now but we will see what their attitude is like when they lose a few games. Be calling for the managers head again and slagging all the players off. Think they seem to forget that their top scorer wants out too!

To be fair, the ones on the message board seemed just to be interested/confused about us and their other rivals.

Thing is. I don't see any of those 3 being our best players.

Problem with moncur was we couldnt sell him to anyone else other than a promotion rival. We decided to cash in on him because He wouldnt sign a new contract and he wanted to go back darn south so only portsmouth luton or charlton could afford him. Call it catch 22. He's scored a few belters for us but i class him as a wasted talent who wont be missed. Hedges and izzy need to go next and bring in a couple more league 2 prospects see how they get on in remainder of season. Keep the spreadsheet balanced.....
