Yeah we said same yesterday about isgrove and Hedges. Both been here sometime now and must be ready for pastures new.
Time will tell whether it was a good move for us and for Luton. My view right now though is that unless Elliot Lee gets injured he won't be a regular starter at Luton either. He may have the odd cameo and it'll then depend on whether he contributes more for them than he did for us in similar circumstances. If I'm wrong and he does start regularly then I think he'll actually weaken them. Having seen them a couple of times I think they have a solid, functional midfield with Elliot Lee as the luxury player they look to. Add him into the mix as well as Lee and I think they'll lose some stability and teams will create more against them. We'll see....
Why the heck would I want to argue the toss over nothing, with posters I normally agree with? I wasn't disagreeing or accusing you of anything. If you don't want to believe me, then don't. No one died.
By that logic if we flog the groundsman's lawnmower we've sold an asset. Still wouldn't stick it in our midfield.
Surprised he turned it down you would have thought he would have wanted to play football. Fairly clear he isn't in stendels plans same with fryers.
5 decent games in about 50+ apps and then only for a about 60 mins max. If other teams think he’s a big player for us I’m happy to sell players like him every transfer window. Never done anything. We should have binned him off before now anyway.
Would you? If you’re on let’s guess £2k/week guaranteed for the next 18 months, would you drop down to £500/week, to work in worse facilities? I know I wouldn’t. That’s nothing against him at all. He likely has bills that need paying, maybe a car on £700 a month, say £100 on insurance, £30 on tax. Then if you say £700 a month rent, and you’re talking a massive chunk (if not all of it) of his salary if he’s expected to drop to £500/week (before tax). Obviously these numbers are completely fabricated, but you get the point. He’d be stupid to put himself in that position at short notice, when he has 18 months left guaranteed at his current salary.
I would have thought the money we received from the sale of Potts and the wages saved there would have allowed at least one signing. If we have to sell two players for every one we bring in then eventually we're not going to have the numbers to make a team. Moncur being here or being elsewhere will make little difference to our eventual points tally as it didn't look like we were going to play him. He may play just one game for Luton and score one goal in a 1-0 victory that secures their second place position, a point ahead of Barnsley. This sale has allowed that possibility. I don't believe the money we've made and saved from the sale is worth that risk when the team we've sold to is already ahead of us in the table.
