Watched their match today against City and they were absolutely awful. Granted, City are at an elite level, but my god, id put these on par with those awful Derby and Sunderland squads who got the record lowest points. 13 goals in 22 games is nothing short of an embarrassment. I genuinely think our XI who turned out on Saturday would beat the same XI they started with today.
Put simply TYK they lack confidence because they know that they are doomed. They haven't a Jack Palance of staying up now. Tell you what was awful, the City away strip they wore today. It looked like a bilious attack absolutely dire.
They are doomed but they should avoid the ignominy of becoming the new worst top flight side in history.
You've definitely got to be able to take the rough with the smooth to follow most teams. After the joy of promotion, staying up must have felt just as good, and they must have been hoping they had weathered the storm. Then this. Back to reality for them now.
They only need 1 point to beat Derby's record. That said they need to restore some pride. I agree they haven't got a chance of making up the gap to the likes of Burnley, Newcastle, Southampton. I think Fulham are doomed as well, despite having greater firepower & Ranieri. Aforementioned teams & Cardiff to fight it out to avoid the final berth to the Championship.
With a huge pile of cash, wonder if they will come down and "chase the dream" or take a more pragmatic approach.
I work I’m Wakefield, it seems funny how when they did well last season a lot of previous Leeds fans were all for Huddersfield now Leeds are doing well they have all crawled back
Hoyle hardly spends a thing. Didn't try hard enough to get Defoe. Bulked at what Brentford wanted for their top scorer so now linked with someone for a cut price 1.5 million. In the summer he will make a profit for himself when Mooy moves on.
Agree with this. Whilst I don’t believe you should break the bank to stay up, you’ve got to spend something to at least give it a craic. Once you’re relegated, there’s no guarantee you’ll be promoted again for another 20 years or so. I feel Huddersfield haven’t spent much compared to what they have raked in, and when they have spent it, it’s not really been spent that well. I’d hoped they’d survive this season, but I think the performances have been poor in general, and now they’ve lost all confidence. The ‘fish eyes’ have set in.
“Jack Palance “ lol Love it but your showing your age lol Was it him who shot Liberty Valance or was that lee Marvin ?
Might seem a huge pile, but it's there for the purpose of softening the fall as much as giving them an advantage over the rest. I would think that going back into the championship will see a significant fall in revenue through various streams, and several other clubs have wealthy owners and/or parachute payments, so no massive advantage to be had. They could be in for a rough ride.
It was mentioned on radio yesterday that Huddersfield had spent around 50 million, and Fulham over twice as much. All that extra money to be a couple of points better off in the league. Crazy world.
I think there’s about 8 or 9 poor teams in the league & Hoyle probably thought Wagner could work his magic again & keep them up but it always seems to be tougher second time round. With the parachute payments they’ve put themselves in a great position to get back up in the next 3 or 4 seasons & I’m sure they’ll be hoping to do what West Brom did years ago & Burnley more recently
I’ve only seen Hudds a few times on Sky, but I can’t see where the £100m has gone. I know it’s tough, but their signings haven’t been great imo. Over 2 seasons, what has been their increase in revenue? Then you can see just how much of investment they have made. I don’t know the figures apart from the £10m they got for their position finish last season. Then they’ll get around £4m this year for finishing in bottom 3. I like Huddersfield, but I just don’t think they’ve really given it a decent craic this season.
Oh I agree but will they be sensible and use it for its intended purpose or do what everyone else does and blow it chasing promotion.
How the heck did Steve Mounie miss that chance late on?! They paid £11.5m for him last season and he's absolute gash!!
