I don't know if anything is planned to honour Mr Cryne on Saturday. We all know that Patrick and his family were always very modest .But I would hope that the 'One made us, One saved us' flag will be displayed at the ground in a prominent place.
I would like it to be made into a more permanent tribute.Either both men on a statue or together on a large memorial plaque.
I think most fans would love a permanent tribute to Patrick somewhere in Oakwell but I believe it was his wishes and those of his family not to have one. I don't know if time has changed this though.
Not having a go Mario, but this is something I really wouldn't want and a proposition I'd protest extremely vocally against. It's not a subject I want to bring to the fore when it's not an issue and I have absolutely no problem with those who believe it a good idea. Nor do I have any problem with people airing that view. It's just that a permanent tribute is not a universally agreed preference amongst Barnsley supporters, but a personal opinion. A valid one and a popular one, but not the accepted stance amongst all fans that it is often portrayed.
How come it's not in the north stand like it was for a while? It would be a more prominent position and fill up many empty seats from the lack of away followings at this level. It can't be easy for some fans to see the flag properly, especially those in the west stand. Don't know the ins and outs, maybe someone told you it has to be where it is.
That's fair enough Jay, it's just an opinion and you have your own. I'm not sure it would matter much even if it was the opinion of all fans because the most important opinion, that of the Cryne family, appears to be against it.
I know what you mean, but the club's favoured position is in the west stand, as it means we can put it out and put it away without getting too close to the away fans. We just do as we're told.
Shame that something that cost a lot and has on two legends of our history is hidden away in the worst part of our stadium, but it's not your fault. Thanks for the reply. So now our north stand built to be split not only can't be during the match, it won't allow a couple of our fans put a flag up there. Unbelievable Jeff.
It's in a restricted viewing part of the ground for where home fans sit. When it's in the north stand everyone in the home ends can see the flag in full. Where it is in the West Stand, out of the two and a half sides of our supporters you'd have to be in the East Stand or down towards the legends suite to have a decent view.
