People in the East Upper/ Family Stand who let their kids sit on the window ledge at half time. Just a pane of glass from a 100ft fall and certain death. Please, stop doing it. It's a busy concourse. It's a 20+ year old stand. Yes, I know it's reinforced glass, etc, but that's a hell of alot of trust.
Reminds me of the story of the lawyer who loved showing off the strength of the windows in his office block. Every time a new group of people came in he ran at the window and jumped into it to show how strong it was. I bet you can't guess what happened one day when he jumped into a window on the 24th floor. Let's just say it was the last time he tried that trick. Or any other trick for that matter
Always makes me shake my head in disbelief when I see grown men who should know better jumping on the glass floor up Blackpool tower...same when they stand there encouraging their families to join in ...Morons ... This subject reminded me of a little incident when I lived in Portugal...we had popped down to the Algarve for a few days and visited the beach ...my step father insisted on setting up really close to the cliff overhang..me being my usual unelected safety officer argued we would be much safer moving ...step father came out with the statement these cliffs have been here years there's no evidence of any movement stop stressing out and relaxthey aren't about to collapse...... All the time we were there I was uneasy about the situation to the fact I kept calling my daughter to come away...truth of the matter it spoilt the day in away ...yes i was mocked....about being too protective.... 1week later the exact place we were sat was engulfed by the cliff falling killing a German tourist ...so much for the cliff going nowhere
Reminds me of my recurring dreams . I'm either stood on the edge at the top of Blackpool Tower or the top of a block of flats or a cliff edge always looking down. I need to change my evening tipple I think . Also bridges give me the eebee geebees I get urge to jump over the edge . Humber Bridge is my nemesis !!
Surely the glass floor at Blackpool Tower must be strong enough to withstand people jumping on it? Otherwise it's an accident waiting to happen!
I've walked the Cleveland Way several times, and the route follows the Yorkshire coast between Filey and Saltburn. Each time I've done it the route has been slightly different, and even online maps are not always correct. The reason? Our coast is slowly sinking into the North Sea, and the path is constantly being diverted for safety reasons. Watch out if you're walking along the cliff tops there - I'd take a parachute if I were you.
