The owners have to reveal whether we are a PROPER football club ..... or just a shop window

I think that’s what the plan is anyway tbh graduall.
As long as they don’t put the club and ground in danger I’m willing to wait and enjoy the ride .
I think they viewed relegation as a backward step so that’s encouraging .
I think it would look bad if we had another January fire sale but I don’t think that will happen imo .
If we get unbelievable offers for some players we may lose a couple but I would be very surprised if we did another fire sale and I think we won’t imo

It doesn’t appear that they took up the option to buy the ground/land within 6 months of the takeover so I don’t think that will ever happen now.

Well they could take the club anywhere tbh to a new ground .
Don’t want to get into the ins and outs of it but if they want the ground and don’t get their way!! nah I’m not going there they are good owners I’m positive thinking .

    EXACTLY !!!
And its the sole reason we have a high percentage of football supporters in the Barnsley District that choose NOT to support their own town football club - no matter how much they love the town of Barnsley.

These people have ‘invested’ in our club and have not tried to hide that fact. The aim of every ‘investment’ is to get a return on the money invested.

For a club like ours we won’t get loads more fans through the gates and it’s highly unlikely we’ll get to the riches of the premier league. That pretty much leaves money earned from player sales as the only viable source of cash to achieve the investment return.

This is the reality of business and how our club will be run. We will buy young players, develop them and sell them for profit.

Everyone was excited about mega rich foreign owners and now that the reality seems to be hitting home.

I thought this board was about opinions NOT
    abuse because we don't agree.

Currently this board seems to be about Young Nudger - pretty exclusively anyway.

If you think Nudger has been abused on this thread I suggest you look at the other one where he repeatedly called someone a lovely person... a bit much that I thought.

There is a lot of hysteria on here at the moment. In actual fact we’ve sold only one regular first team player, and if the figures reported are reflective, for once for a decent fee - and we also offloaded one who was on decent money but was unfancied by the manager, getting a fee when he’d have gone for nothing in a few months.

The assistant coach has understandably gone to work with his mate who happens to have moved a few miles down the road at a presently premier league club. That was probably unexpected and unplanned for - but I can’t hold the club to account. He’d have wanted to go, and Dale Tonge might be an excellent replacement.

I choose not to assume Pinnock or Moore or anyone else will be sold. They might be - but there has been nothing at all to suggest they will leave. I’ll react to facts, not rumours.

The facts are at the moment that we’ve sold only Brad Potts who would have started most games, brought in some proper wingers (who many, including you Nudger, and me) have been crying out for, and the assistant coach has been allowed to go up two divisions to work with his old mate. Remember winkler and Stendel hadn’t worked together prior to being here, plus none of us know how much of an input Winkler had. Stendel’s english has come on brilliantly so we don’t need a translator, it may or may not affect us negatively but you can’t blame the club for letting Winkler go. In much the same way as with players, if we show ourselves to be awkward at allowing people to leave and progress we will struggle more to recruit. Disappointing as it is, letting Winkler go had to be done.

In the same way, if a bundesliga club or whatever came in for Stendel, they’d have to let him discuss it at least.

I see nothing too much wrong with players and coaches viewing us as a stepping stone. If they’re ambitious and want to progress, get here. Be bloody good for a season or two. Yes we will sell you if we get a good profit - but that can only happen if you make our side good for that time or look good yourself. When we are crap we don’t sell anyone. The plan, and as much as we might not like it, it’s here to stay, only works when we have good players playing well.

We’d all like to have long term, loyal players and all that - but it doesn’t exist in football at all really, plus we know how the owners want to operate. They’re not stripping it all out like the Oyston’s, and they aren’t throwing money the club can’t justify and risking its future like a Ken Anderson or Chansiri.

As fans I think we ought to be very careful what we wish for. It wasn’t solely his fault as there were various factors, as well known - but John Dennis very nearly bankrupted the club, it nearly disappeared from existence. And even under his stewardship we sold players and lost coaching staff. Yet his time seems to be remembered only for the positives at times.

Making sure we stay solvent might not be pretty but it’s reality - yes I want to see us in the championship, eventually in the premier league hopefully. But we shouldn’t risk being in the non leagues, thrown out and starting again to chase it.

I don’t think they’ll sell Pinnock and Moore, then pocket the money. Realistically even that money wouldn’t be that huge on their scale. I think they are here for the long term, will sell assets at points to keep it going, but look to build to make it more profitable higher up the scale.

If they do sell more first team players this month, then I am wrong, and some of this whinging might be proven justified. I just think we ought to keep our powder dry and see.

One of the most well reasoned and properly thought out posts I've read in here for a long time. Thank you for putting things into perspective Troff.

Ps young nudger, who I have never met, but who seems to attract much (deserved) vitriol on here should really calm it with the obscenities.
So.......Nudge......if you're reading this......calm down and try and be less abusive and more constructive. It might help your blood pressure.

That option has been extended according to GG. Heard a rumor the council refused to sell their share though and they will want to own outright

I'm not sure I want the club to own it at the moment, not until we know a bit more about what their plans are etc.

I'm not saying they'd flatten it and sell up but I quite like that it's secure at present.
