catastrophic January in a row, when people have you down as an ‘easy buy’ they will keep coming back and more and more will join. We need to learn to say no more often and ask for more. Players coming here know they can just up and leave at the first moment these days
YEP We sold Potts and straight away the whole football league rejoiced - and said ......... there’s a fooking buy one get one free sale again down at daft Barnsley. Fooking get down there ASAP with yer cheque book !!!
What do you expect us to do? Potts we got good money for and moncur struggled to get a game so has moved on to free wages up.... We have brought a lad in from yeovil who looks a good prospect and a couple of youngsters with over a week of the window remaining to add more.
It hasn't been disastrous at all.... yet..... We can only wait and see right now. Promotion is the main goal so hopefully we don't sell any of the spine
I expect us to be a PROPER football club. The problem is we haven’t been a proper football club for the last 14 years. Supporters at Barnsley are either too young or they have forgotten what a proper football club looks like. I haven’t.
McDonald club captain to Hull who were also in a relegation scrap at the time. His replacement was Matt Mills on a free transfer absolutely shocking business.
Your boring... Last 14 years??? We have always bought and sold players regardless of ownership. Continually posting the same thing in a slightly different way won't change that.
I'd agree that so far the damage has been limited. All we can do now is hope the current rumours are just rumours and we get through January without losing any more players.
The mettle of the owners is going to be tested over the next couple of weeks. I'd hope that we emerge from the window still in shape to continue our strong challenge for the top two. If we dont then legitimate questions need to be asked. Let's see where we're at on the 1st of Feb.
Last years January got us relegated; we did our business based on a manager who didn't give a **** then proceeded to appoint an atrocious incompetent manager
We've no idea at this stage whether Green and Simoes will be good enough at this level. They are gambles. It's unlikely they are already League One ready. It could be a couple of years before we see the best of them. It could be that we have to move them on. Our squad appears weaker as things stand.
14 years? Ok. So we were proper before that. The John Dennis era? Ok. So we didn’t sell Ashley Ward, then Craig Hignett, Neil Shipperley and so on to the highest bidders? We didn’t lose our manager before that in 1998, nor our club captain and hero - when all he wanted was pay parity with players he was far superior to? Go further back. Mick McCarthy. Further. Tommy Taylor. We’ve always sold players and have always been far from the top of the food chain. I don’t know what you think you remember but we’ve never held on to players when they’ve been in demand. We even tried selling Darren Barnard - accepted an offer from Southampton but he didn’t want to go.
Nudger is wrong about a lot of things but he’s right in saying the last time the club was run solely to benefit the team and the fans was under Dennis.
McDonald was subbed at half time at reading we were 3 nil down. Bust up with hecky and other thing we never saw him after that. People on here we asking for experience we got matt mills people were pleased untill they saw him play then changed their minds.
