Think we all need a bit of perspective here, we've sold Potts (who wasn't in our top 3 players by most people's reckoning) for £1.5-2m depending on who you believe, we've sold Moncur who couldn't get our team and who most people wanted shut of anyway and lost our assistant manager, who let's be reyt, is just an assistant manager at the end of the day and no one's got a clue how much influence he's had. We've also brought in 2 new, exciting young players in in a position we needed reinforcing. I could understand the outcry if we'd just sold Pinnock, Moore and Mowatt but we've not so why don't we all just calm down a bit and put the toys back in the pram? If we go on to sell some big names as we did in 2016 then I'll be as frustrated as anyone but we haven't. We're on a cracking run of form with a team playing some great football, so get behind the club you set of miserable tw@ts.
No mate. For many on here the perspective is across fifty years or more. The outcome is always the same.
Oh come on - asking for calm round here is just asking too much! Some people couldn't get through their day without being offended/appalled/disgusted/sickened (insert any appropriate word) about what's going on at our football club. Perspective is a good word. We all need plenty of that. I don't know about some of our disenchanted fans but I will be heading down the motorway on Saturday to see, hopefully, another high-scoring performance from our highly talented squad of players. Rochdale might be on the end of that five or six-goal thrashing that somebody will surely get this season. I can't wait to see my team again.
57 years for me and I KNOW the score. I support a team that goes up and down at regular intervals and has trouble holding on to it's talent. I'm fine with that. If I wasn't I would find something else to do.
Same mate, the football is terrific at the minute and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. I've thoroughly enjoyed this season so far.
Exactly. It's great to watch and I lap up every minute, whether or not I am there. It's just as good watching on iFollow, from all angles.
Finally. Been threatening to write something similar all morning but you did a far better job. As it stands this season we've lost Bradshaw, Potts and Moncur and signed Woodrow, Dougall and Green. That isn't a fire sale. We've lost our Assistant Manager, which is disappointing, but if it wasn't for the fact he's had to be the face of the club with the media would we be rating him so highly? Yes we'd be sad he was going as the coaching team as a whole are doing a good job, but he can be replaced. Stendel has his own network and ideas. Looks like the Pinnock rumours are unfounded too, but if it was £6 million with add ons that would make him the second most expensive player in history out of League One. Joint with Fabian Delph going to Villa but behind Lookman joining Everton. That's hardly the club repeating the same mistakes, and is surely the opposite. The meltdown in the last few days feels over the top.
Sunderland and Charlton are both losing their top scorers. Pompey losing a midfielder who’s gone back to Millwall. Luton lost their coaching staff. We're not the only ones and we’re not the worst off.
Good post, as you say, we’ve no idea on the actual input Winkler had and we’ve signed 2 exciting players!
There are a lot of really good points in this thread and it is worth noting this, that we're not the only ones at the top losing players and staff and we could finish January with a squad comparatively stronger to our competitors than we started it.
You don't know that for sure though, do you? Or are you on the inside? Good mouthpiece for the head coach, no doubt. Sounded a nice enough guy, well grounded and all that. But we don't really know how good a coach he was. I'm just grateful they didn't come calling for all three of our German coaching team. Now that WOULD have caused some ructions!
