I suspect Stendel will want someone he knows, either from back in Germany or within the club. I'd imagine he or the club doesn't want to risk having to forge a new understanding in the middle of the season....Well, at least that's the ideal solution.
To my mind the statement from GG viz: " we have had a couple of days to work on a replacement and it's up to Daniel who he now wants to take the role" , could possibly indicate that they are thinking of promoting someone who is already at the Club.? Could that " someone" be U23 Coach and former player Dale Tonge.? Wouldn't surprise me. https://www.google.co.uk/search?sou...0i131j46i131.HKGLdj8l1LA#imgrc=loU_fkHhywkiEM:
Given DS has said that Tonge is working with him for a few games a little while ago on his Thursday interview, possibly.
The new assistant needs good English and German with some football league experience so I’m going for either Dominic Werling or Kevin Keegan with Owen Hargreaves as an outsider
"Here, sign this new contract with a buy-out clause and we'll grant them permission to speak to you."
Ordinarily I don't think we'd be making as much of a fuss of an assistant manager leaving us. What's worrying is that we probably feel that we know Winkler better than we do Stendel given the former's regular attendance at media sessions. This then suggests to us that he has a massive influence on our current success. Whilst I'm not saying that he didn't have a positive role to play, Winkler's level of coverage in the media probably makes him look more influential than he actually is / was. Stendel is still the boss, and he's still there!
Correct, what would folk say if we had the chance to sign a top class striker but he insisted on a release clause
Sad that Andy has gone, but these things happen. Especially to us We still have the "Gaffer" and Chris Stern. Don't forget Stendel & Stern worked together at Hannover before coming here and Chris is First Team coach. Winkler was the "new boy" out of the three but has been the frontman so we all think he is the major player. None of us actually know. Again, we are speculating, lets see how the team performs without Andy, I suspect and hope that it will be business as usual!
One thing's for sure, if Winkler had a 'buy-out clause' then Stendel will have one too. Not that I think it matters - if anyone with an ounce of ambition comes in for anyone at our club, they're off. Best get used to that I suppose.
Just watched Stendels interview on ifollow. Really good interview. Very jolly, chirpy, happy with Tonge, may get another german coach to aide with language but unsure which way he'll decide. Winkler was also sad to leave but felt he couldn't pass up such a big chance and the interesting thing, Winkler and Stendel only live a few flats apart... so he should still have a mate he can chat to. Let's see if anyone else lets leave and not judge the owners to be the worst of the worst based on rumour. Just in case people have missed it, Luton lost their manager, Sunderland lose their star striker and Grant is likely to be going to Huddersfield from Charlton. I'd argue they are all bigger losses for those clubs than what we've had to date... but time with tell.
What, like Kieffer Moore or Cauley Woodrow you mean? How many are better than those two in this league?
Completely agree. We lost one of our three first team coaches. The head coach is still here, Stern is still here. Winkler was sporting director in his last role, so gives you an idea of what each of them add to the team. Team wise, there are lots of rumours. However we have lost one regular first teamer and a bit part cockney wide boy who seems happy now he can play where he wants with his mates, (this is the one I really hope flops and equally then derails their promotion push). That would be so funny Lets wait & see. Lets not forget, the majority have been crying out for wingers with pace. The club brought in two, they may not be the finished article, but Dan & Chris will sort that. We also have the Uruguayan lad, I know he is predominantly being touted for the u23's, but again, no one really knows how good he is. Personally see him taking McDonaghs place in the u23's, but he could turn out to be a star and jumping the queue for the first team.... I think there will be more goings & comings unfortunately, but so far, I still think we are up with our dealings.
