The recent interest in our players and the way we’ve conducted business over the last few years got me thinking about how clubs see us from the outside and indeed how much inside knowledge they have on players situation or contract agreements/clauses

The way clubs are circling round our players makes me think they know they are easy pickings and also know they have absolutely no loyalty to our club

It’s almost like it’s a fire sale in January and that the players agents must be meddling behind the scenes

This makes for an interesting week and a half is all I say

So what about the interest in other clubs players? We aren’t exclusive to rumours . Our club isn’t singled out and after all it is only rumours .’
People seem to beat the club on the slightest inkling .
We made a mistake in not securing players contracts in one January window . The club have acknowledged that mistake ten fold in statements .
However we will sell players it’s our strategy but the conspiracy theories are just that .

It’s not that I’m berating the club. I’m just trying to see why clubs see us as easy pickings when it comes to our players.

I just wish they’d stand firm more. That’s all

I think other clubs see us as an attractive team developing young players with talent and hunger. We're regularly talked about as the best team in the division and the energy and press, now combined with passing control that's much less frenetic... add to that goals being belted in from long range and regular goal of the month contenders, while having the best defensive record in the league... wouldn't you be surprised if our players weren't on other clubs radars?

It wasn't long ago that fans were looking at clubs who were buying younger players and selling them on for good money and asking, "Why can't we do that, we never sell any players for that kind of money?"

Now we are and although the system isn't perfect (I think we need to try and have more direct replacements ready to play rather than buying as soon as we sell) it's a vast improvement on buying old hackers on decent wages who weren't performing and had no sell on value.

Yes but why can't we adapt the mould like Peterborough? You don't see Marcus Maddison being touted around left, right and centre.

He’s not being touted about because they’re not looking as hard as they are our players which ses a lot.
On another note I don’t think clubs touting anybody tbh it’s just rumour mill.
But if they are I’d say what a good job we’ve done picking and developing players

How are our players easy pickings when clubs are having to break their transfer records to sign them?

If you had a meltdown over the Pinnock rumour (£6 million plus to Brentford), how do you then explain how that would make him the second most expensive transfer out of League One ever?

There's no fire sale at Oakwell. We've only sold one first team player thus far.

Read my post. In no way shape or form have I had a melt down? - folk on here are the most defensive people I know! - excuse me for having an opinion

My assessment is based on the team from 2017 to now.

I get the business model we adopt - it’s a fair plan in which the club can generate revenue through player profit.

I just don’t think we have much say when clubs come knocking. It’s almost like soon as a bid comes in or the player wants out we’re forced to sell.

I’m not knee jerk reacting to the rumours. It’s just got me thinking as there’s a pattern occurring regarding the transfers. I just hope the club has learnt its lesson since the 2017 debacle

I want the club to stand firm and only sell on its terms and not be held to ransom when they do depart. Because that’s what I fear is happening at the moment

I think you've ignored that I said 'If you had a meltdown' not that you had one. So there was nothing defensive on my part. Also it was intended to be a general 'you' based on whoever was reading the post, almost posing the question. My argument is that we obviously do have a say as we've been told how many offers for players we rejected in the Summer, and based on the transfer records clubs are having to break to sign our players.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and mine is that 2017 wasn't the debacle most claim it was. Which is why it's frustrating that such negative language is being used to describe the current month we're in despite the fact we've only sold two first team players since the season started (I'm not counting Moncur).

That sounds like something someone having a meltdown would say
