I had been confident of automatic promotion our January activity seeems designed thus far to undermine it. Potts and Moncur were first team players and have been replaced by maybe next year or the year after kids. We are significantly weaker. We have weakened the coaching staff hard to deny that either. There is still time to change things round. We may have enough quality to go up despite weakening ourselves. Seems a big gamble to me and no point pretending we have had a good January off the pitch.
I think with Potts and Moncur having gone, as Brown was already here, the squad is definately less effective than it was in December. The first 11 at present isnt, but we look a bit threadbare if we get a couple of injuries as the signings made are unproven at anything like our level. We shall await what happens before the window closes but surely it would make sense to sign some players who could slot straight in, particularly a striker, should either first team choice striker get injured/suspended. I like Victor and think he will come good, but is he ready to start yet?
Josh Kay, Bradley Ash, Jak McCourt, Otis Khan, Stefan Payne, Elliott Kebbie, Kayden Jackson, Shaun Tuton, Harry White, Charlie Harris, Mike Phenix we’re all lower / non league punts as well. Don’t get me wrong Yiadom, Roberts & Angus have made it worthwhile but there’s a lot more misses than hits
Johnson to heckingbottom comes to mind and that didn't turn out too bad.Oh yes and the vastly experienced morais?
If someone wants to leave his job and he is forced to stay, he is unlikely to do his best during the remainder of his contract. As for his replacement, everyone who was ever successful had their first day in a promoted position. We benefitted from it with Hecky. Stendel had the choice of many other coaches at the Club senior to Tonge for the temporary job. He must have seen something in him that put him above the others. That's what we pay a head coach to do.
