Does anyone else feel sick when you click on the scores updates and see we are losing, I am a 50 year old bloke and the wife says I need to grow up and get a grip, it's only football she says, no its bloody not, I can go from elation and euphoria to being a miserable old git

I'm just the same emotions fluctuating between abject despair to orgasmic delight
When Stelling says 'there's a goal at Oakwell' or wherever, my sphincter puckers up like a tea towel holder

    Sick? No

Dejected or fed up more like.

When I was younger (early 20s) a defeat would ruin my weekend.

I have learnt as I have got older and have more responsibilities that football isn't more important than life or death.

I love a win as much as the next man or woman. But when we lose I just feel a bit "meh" nowadays.

My mother is well into her 80s a season ticket holder too..and I can categorically say she becomes almost suicidal when we loose ..when we are on TV she kicks and heads every ball to the point that at times it becomes impossible to stay calm ...she's up walks to the kitchen throws the tea towel down the very same tea towel that gets twisted tightly and for some reason always appears (it's a wonder she doesn't rip it apart the way it gets treated ) she always sits on the edge of her seat ...questions evey decision the referee gives against us...lol the old fella won't let her have the radio on because she gets angry and bangs everything about in the kitchen should we not be playing well and conceed.....must admit we both feel down and have a heavy heart when we loose and yes it can spoil the weekend...but that's how it hits you when you take pride in your team and want them to do well.

Good on her, young at heart. My wife's nan is in her late 80s and is by the sounds of it very similar, she swears like mad , and she probably knows more about pompey than that stinky Westwood bloke who wears that stupid hat, I still can't get my head around how she is, she is little old lady but changes into a lunatic when they play, I just see her as a little old lady where the butter wouldn't melt lol, yeah right she ain't wired up right, she frightens me, a lovely woman though

Had to laugh PT but there must be something in what they drink ...whilst my mother doesn't swear she can come out with some pearlers
Some years ago whilst sat in the west stand ( her regular haunt ) the female lines person was having a bit of a stinker flaging every decision in favour of the opposition when up shes jumps from her seat and shouts
Get back in the kitchen you pudding burner where you belong lol
Another one away from football was when she was told she needed hearing aids...there's nothing wrong with my hearing I just can't hear noise .....lol

Ditto, our lass is exactly the same. She misses the irony when she wants to discuss the current plot on Coronation Street or bore me stupid about the latest Love Island or whatever crap she is watching at the time.

I turned off the radio at the beginning of the second half to listen to the white noise of our lasses hairdryer and missed the second goal. When I looked on livescores on my phone it was 2-0. At this point I pulled the blanket over my head and hid until it was safe to come out and miraculously it was 2-2. The things football can do to you eh :D

Something I’ll never understand, i go to every game because I’m a Barnsley fan, I can understand people like me getting upset feeling sick and over joyed, but people that don’t even go to games feeling like this is a little strange to me. If you feel that emotional like I do then I don’t know how you can stay at home when we’re playing, and if you can stay at home come you have the same passion for the club that I do, it’s weird to me.

Worst I felt was when we were 1-0 up against Chelsea hanging on. I couldn't stand the tension so I went and paced the concourse.

It's worse watching Jeff and co. When I'm not there I'd be better going for a walk around Meadowhall with our lass.

When I'm not at the match or watching on live tv I can't bear score updates and do everything I can to avoid them. I only check the score when I'm sure the game must have ended.

I'm superstitious like that too Shy Talk. I believe if I flick the channel over and then back again and the opposition score I've jinxed them.

I guess loads of people wanted to go to wimbledon but there were only 700+ tickets available so no option but to "stay at home".
People who work weekends etc so can only attend now and again i guess would not have the same passion as you?
Or Baz who supported the reds through thick and thin but emigrated to Australia last year: is his passion now less than yours?

I don't go away only home and i get text alerts on my phone from the BFC app. Last night i wouldn't look at the phone when it pinged for the third time, my other half said it would be Barnsley i still darnt look. I put final score on just has they said Barnsley had equalised at Oxford, i was in shock but elated!

I hate checking the score in case we're losing but curiosity will usually get the better of me despite myself. I flicked on last night just as we'd gone 2-0 down and turned in and read my book.
The difference this season is that I woke up this morning to check the final score thinking there was a decent chance we might have turned it around.
