Welcome to the BBS Amared. Wow 53 years. You've witnessed a hell of a lot of change during that time.
Apart from this season and Danny Wilson getting us into the Prem, my favourite team was the one under
Dave Bassett that nearly got us promoted via the play offs. What are your best memories when supporting
    the Reds.?

Hi donny red the Bassett team was one of my favourites but I think Norman hunters shades it for me, but any team with glavin in it would take some beating for entertainment.

Welcome to the forum. I hear 1966 was a good year for football. I always appreciate our older fans more than us younger ones. I think it's because you watched us back in the real dark days of a few thousand, 4th division and oil lamps for floodlights :D

I went to the first ever game under floodlights - a friendly against Bolton Wanderers who were a thriving DIv 1 side back then with Tom Finney and Nat Lofthouse. We lost that 2-0 if I remember rightly. FA Cup replays used to be at 2:00 in the afternoon which meant that fans had to wag a day off school or work. Amazing that 38,000 turned out for the FA cup replay against Leicester in 1961.

Mates where I formerly worked who were Reds fans shared those same sentiments with particular
regard to the team under Norman Hunter. I used to like sitting with them in the works Canteen
listening to them eulogise about the legendary Ronnie Glavin and although I've looked at You Tube
footage of the great man posted by some of the lads and lasses here on the BBS, I always feel disappointed
that he played for " us " before I became a Reds supporter.

Ronnie glavin also taught me a lesson about judging players when they first arrive.I thought he was useless for the 6 or 7 games and I was telling everyone he ought to be dropped ( in my defence he was been played on the wing for some reason) but then he was moved inside and the rest is history. I have also met him a few times and a nicer man you could not meet.
The other player from that period that I loved was Trevor Allott a great target man who new where the net was.

Greetings. We are so lucky to have witnessed King Ronnie in a Barnsley shirt. I agree he looked dire in his first few games, but more than made up for it.

Greetings and welcome from a relative newcomer: a mere 52 years supporting.

Clearly you’re a right thinking gentleman, given your remarks about Ronnie and Big Trev.

I've read a report on the Leicester game which mentions the suspicious number of "funerals" taking place in Barnsley that day!
