Showed 2-0 as the final score during results. Obviously the game was still going on. Then back tracked and said 2-1 latest score. Then showed league tables with us on 62 points (meaning we must have lost). Blind panic ensues for three minutes until the result was confirmed. Now on second bottle of cheap crap Aldi vino, trying to calm my shredded nerves.
They won't show the result on the table if the game is still in progress is my guess. Maybe @Micky Finn can elaborate?
I was following that same chaos. They did indeed give our result as 2-0 during the classifieds but the league table they showed had 62 points from 31 games played as by then they'd apparently realised the game was still going on, as @BarnsleyReds postulated. They were all over the place though. They also said that Ipswich had "Snatched a draw from the victories of defeat". I had to rewind to listen to that one again.
I didn't see it; directing MOTD tonight, but it would normally show 2-0 during the classifieds (if that was still the score at that stage), but Mike West would add the info that they were still playing. If it subsequently finished (which it wouldn't have in time) they show it as a late result and Jason Mohammad would read the info that it finished 2-1. The tables at that moment were correct in showing us on 62 points if the final whistle hadn't come through. It's all data-driven - OPTA provide stats for us, Sky, BT and everyone else.
I'm pretty sure the 2-0 scoreline was in yellow(?) and given as final during the classifieds, @Micky Finn. Then it was 2-1, back in blue and given as a latest score when they went back to it at the end with the other late result. Not the end of the world, just a bit unnerving at a stressful time.
Thanks Burgundy, that's the way I saw it too. But what the hell. I' m happy, we won. I've calmed down now. The vino did the trick.
The final tables after the classifieds are not 'as it stands', they're the tables after games completed. I direct Final Score most weeks, but as I said doing MOTD tonight so not seen what happened.
It's actually the second time this season that the BBC have done this. They didn't update the table for hours after Oxford's late equaliser against the Pikeys on 22 December, which erroneously kept them above us. If only we had someone on the inside! http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/according-to-sky-spuwerts.274578/#post-2220985
? He's literally said in this exact thread that he is directing Match of the Day tonight and usually directs Final Score...
yes, really fck me up on the last day of last season, thought we had stayed up. they had not updated thr league table 20mins after full time, TOSSSERS.
Ahh that'll be the website lot downstairs - 'nowt to do with us in that telly bit. Can't get the staff....
