Thanks. My spirits waver quite a lot but thankfully my daughter is made of sterner stuff. She's very accepting of her condition and takes the countless hospital visits in her stride. It's certainly not me she gets it from!

All the best @Spongebob. Agreeing to a trial medication is a pretty selfless thing to do. I hope it has the effect you, your family and friends want it to have. Agreeing to a trial though also offers hope to others through the development of drugs and medication in the future and you are playing a priceless part in that.

Best wishes Spongebob. My mums just had breast cancer and is suffering with lymphodema at the minute. She's back at work now though but it's always in her mind. I won't say i know how you feel because i can't having not had it. Just know how numb I felt when mum was diagnosed. It was being 3-0 up against Stockport and letting 3 goals in last ten minutes times a thousand.

Keep fighting it Spongebob. You Reds.

One of the side effects I suffered was lymphodema , whereby a "pouch" of liquid gathered under my chin
which gave me a saggy neck and looked really embarrassing. My Specialist referred me to the Lymphodema
Clinic which is based at Wakefield Hospice. They devised a programme for me and showed me how to massage
my neck to drain the fluid out via my lymph nodes that had been severely damaged by the Radio therapy.
Pleased to say that after about twelve months, I managed to get rid of any fluid to the point that no one would
ever know that I had had the complaint in the first place.

I didn't know you'd been ill TJ, glad you're on the mend.
Spongebob and Brunner - it might feel like bottom of Div. 4 now but we all know that the Premiership is possible in the future.
    Keep the faith!

Yep Scarf. I had difficulty in swallowing and went to see my GP. He diagnosed it as
tonsillitis and treated it as such. I went back for eighteen separate consultations over 9 months
before a Senior partner was asked for his opinion. By that time my weight had gone
from 17 to 11 stone and my throat was bleeding. Inside ten days, I was seen and
diagnosed. I then had 14 weeks of intense Chemo and Radio therapy. When I first
attended St James Cancer Centre in Leeds, I was amazed at the number of people
who were suffering from Cancer. There are literally mini buses full of patients from
all over Yorkshire. I was told that my Cancer had probably been caused by years of
smoking Cigars and fags and too many Peronis.!! I've totally revamped my life and after
five years of uncertainty, have been given the all clear. Can't stress enough the importance
of an annual health check and if you are offered a chance to undergo tests as part of the
NHS Bowel Cancer screening programme, go for it on the grounds that prevention is better
    than cure.

I would just like to offer my best wishes to Spongebob and Donny Red in their fight against this awful disease. Good luck to you both.
Also I give my best wishes to Brunner and his daughter. Simply awful but good luck with your fight.
Personally I too have had the dreadful time of having seen a child suffer cancer. Thankfully after major surgery tumour was removed successfully. My son has been cancer free now for about 17 years.
Hopefully Brunner your daughter has a similar happy ending. Good Luck.

Thanks Havana red, glad to hear that your wife has won the battle. Don’t forget that you played a part too, my wife has often been my rock and it saddens me to see the pain in her eyes knowing that it’s my fault.

Sounds all too familiar Donny Red, I was back and forth with coccyx pain for four years. I eventually went private for a coccyx manipulation and I was starting to struggle passing motions. Soon as the doc put his finger up he knew something wasn’t right and scanned me that day. By that time it was 16cm, squashing my bowel and pushing up my bladder... All I can say guys is don’t be shy when the time comes for check up on that area, it doesn’t hurt, the docs have seen it all before and it could save you heartache in the future.

This is true. My daughter had terrible and chronic scoliosis (partly due to our elderly GP not picking it earlier) and had to endure an 8 hour operation to insert two rods and 17 titanium screws. Our worry was that we thought her more frail than she actually was; by some distance as it turned out. The operation completely turned her life around in terms of outlook and her mental approach to the future. She was also 3 inches taller! and now stands well above her mother and level with me at 6 foot.
Constant encouragement is the key along with honesty and openness.
Hide nothing, be positive, be strong.

Thanks Ian, so glad to hear your son has been successfull in his fight. I take so much inspiration from the courage shown by children. I have a friend who’s child has cerebral palsy and they way he live his life is amazing.

It really isnt your fault Spongebob and I doubt very much your wife would think it is either.

I sincerely hope these trial drugs work their magic and have you fully fit, keep going bud
