Saw earlier that England needed 361 to beat the Windies in the first ODI.
Just checked and seen that we won by 6 wickets. Joe Root weighed in with
a knock of 102. We'll done England fantastic result.

Typical Joe Root one day knock, absolute class - Not sure he should be captain of the 5 day side, but at all formats he's in the top tier of batters in the world with Kholi, that cheating Oz and Williams.

Was never in doubt after about 5 overs, this team are unreal if they don’t win the world cup it will be a travesty.

We were 11/5 before to started batting which was way too big. We are the best in the world and can chase down any total batting down to ten. It took Windies around 20 overs to reach hundred and Gayle played for himself and not the team with just two boundaries in his first fifty balls.

Probably remiss of me not to mention the knock of 123 by Jason Roy.
That really formed the "backbone" of what was a magnificent overall team effort.
Captain Morgan also weighed in with a valuable 65 with the result that
together with the performances of Bairstow and Root and some shoddy
Windies fielding, the lads recorded a memorable victory.

I'd pick Jason Roy in Test Cricket.

We're usually 2 wickets down after 10 overs anyway. May as well be 60-2 off 10 than 15-2 off 10.

Wish I'd have seen that I always fancy us to chase anything down these days, especially on a flat pitch and small ground.

Gayle is a strange one. Yes he can smack a six probably further than anyone else, but what is the point in hitting them out of the ground when you have to keep changing the ball? Apart from his potential to get you a hundred he is a waste of a shirt. He's invisible in the field and if the ball does trickle near him he runs like an old man to try to stop it. Same at the crease - his running is hopeless.

I saw the end of the Windies innings and most of ours. It was a run-fest and we never looked in danger of not getting to the target.

Bumble was saying that the next match, on Friday, is at the same ground and on a wicket just a couple of strips away from the one used yesterday. Looks like a repeat performance.

I still can't believe that we allowed such an average side to beat us 2-1 in the Test Series. Very poor effort by England for that.

Its true, we seem quite decent at baseball. Cricket, not so much.

Will soon be giving Roy a test spot and ruining him.

Every other team might as well stay at home like Plymouth, AFC Wimbledon and Burton Albion.

Sounds good but never works. Red ball movement off the pitch and through the air: 3 slips at least and different field settings, 5 days not 1. White ball does eff all, rarely any slips or short leg etc: flat wickets prepared for 50 overs. Different bowlers too.

Yes it's a little tongue in cheek but what's Jennings average in the last 18 months?

I'm aware of the differences of Tests and ODI's- but the record of our openers in the last 5 years is pathetic.

I would also suggest that outside of England and New Zealand, most red balls do the square root of **** all also.

Burns isn't good enough. Yes he's a grafter but he's spectacularly technically flawed. Just plants his front foot and plays round his pad. He'll never score a test century either.
