Just been looking at previous away games at Walsall, and realised it's nearly 30 years since my first visit.

We won 3-1 at the old ground, Shotton played in central midfield and they were relegated.

I think that might have been their last season before they moved grounds?

Anyone else go to that game?

I think I was there? Wasn’t it 88/89 season? Currie scored almost straight from the 2nd half kickoff if memory serves me? Quite a few halftime pies went up in the air.

I went to Fellows Park for a League Cup tie which we lost. Miserable night. Mid 80s?

Remember it well. I got arrested sticking up for a couple of lads who hadn't done owt wrong. It cost me a bloody fortune, as I pleaded not guilty, had no witnesses and the magistrate believed the police's expletive ridden fairy story. The same copper tried to goad me at Wolves the following season, but I was with some mates this time. Cuz also spotted what was going on and intervened.

Wasn’t the first one a 1-1 draw after we’d battered them? Was on special also.

Will check who scored. Have Banger in mind

Strange lot west midlands police. I can remember my first visit to wolves when we won 1-0.

Just after we'd scored a Bobby told us to stop singing. Weird.

I was at that Easter game in 81 and also went on the special train. Warm and sunny day I seem to remember and I have it my mind that Neil Cooper scored our goal in a 1-1 draw but I could be wrong.....

Me. Good day out, that. Can't remember much about it, apart from being trapped on a train from New Street to Walsall that was full of very unpleasant AV fans. Does anybody have the team details?

I also went to the Easter game and was also victim to the shithousery of West Mercia Police. Pleaded not guilty so it cost me twice as much. Slightly funny story in that when the magistrate asked me how I proposed to pay I suggested a quid a week. Her response was " It's a punishment not a savings fund". Still took the lying barstewards 4 years to get it all though. West Mercia Police 2nd only to the South Yorkshire lot imo

Last time i went there was easter 81. We were 3rd from top and they were 3rd from bottom (info taken from my programme just retrieved from attic). No teams for the game announced in the programme. Alan Buckley was their player/manager, and a fine footballer he was. All i can remember from that day was an incident after the match. A barnsley lad, resplendant with scarf round neck and round both wrists was getting a kicking. My dad drove his car onto the pavement to scatter 'em. Lad got up and spewed all over. Think his name was Fudge, he's been mentioned on here a few times.
