    Just want to chip in with the historical point that women's football was infinitely more popular than mens up until ~mid 1900s when the FA banned the women's teams from using the same pitches as men.
    The general view seems to have been that the mens game was for ruffians and the women's game was more entertaining.
    Personally I was lucky enough to go to school in the mid nineties so got to play in the boys and the girls team (Mapp J&Is) but the option to play was taken away by the time we hit year 8 (12/13 year old) at secondary school - for no reason anyone could actually explain to a class of football mad girls.

    It makes a change from us beating each other up over Brexit or Tommy Robinson I suppose.

    Have to say while I don't agree with the original post, the level of vitriol is out of order too.

    I have to say that many of Britain's greatest sporting achievements of all time have been made by women, in sports they have been encouraged to take part in.

    Women were excluded from a lot of sports like football / rugby in my day (I'm 54). I don't remember there
    being a mass outcry about this by women at my school, but a lot of that was more of a conditioned state of
    mind about all things then. (I started out in banking & women were not expected to become bank managers
    & most accepted this, with a few exceptions).

    The world is a different place now thankfully & I think of the generation that grew up post Italia 90 / Euro 96, a lot more women took interest in football
    & were inspired to play & then no doubt found it difficult to find teams. I watched the games at the Olympics & some of the women's World Cup
    matches & the sport has progressed amazingly over a short space of time & I think all involved should be very proud of that. Of course, all spectator sports
    people can chose whether to follow or not.

    Hopefully I've not offended anyone with this post, especially the female posters on here, who I think make a great contribution to this forum & I can see why they have taken offence.

    I coach my daughters u14s Girls Rugby league team. Woman and girls have watched rugby years why shouldn’t they play it. The interest is there, I had 25 girls signed on last season and 17 moved up to u16s. I have 25 players again this season

    Girls rugby league is one of fastest growing sports in uk at moment. From just a hand full of teams 5 years ago there’s now likely to be 3 leagues at u12s, 14s, and 16s. With new teams joining all the time. It will continue to grow and as soon as the RFL start allowing all girls teams from age of 8 instead of 12 the skill level will increase.

    I watch woman’s RL and I agree the skill level at moment is pretty lol, but will increase significantly over the next 10 years when the girls playing at junior level now move into the adults game.

    The men’s game in most sports has developed over decades. The women’s game even if going 20 years is still relatively new and will improve.

    Really think womens football and cricket would be better if the size of the pitch and Goals in football were reduced.

    Agree the level of vitriol is out of order, (and action has been taken).
    As a woman who has spent 40+ years shrugging off people's indifference to women's football, the OP didn't really offend me as such. I think alot of attitudes in this thread might actually change if the posters actually came and understood that the game is totally different. I think @tyketastic makes a great point about size of goals. Female goalkeepers are at a massive disadvantage Vs men in terms of the size of the goal. Average height, coupled with the lack of strength above the head, makes it inevitable that female goalkeepers will struggle. It doesn't make them crap goalkeepers, it just means that the goal was designed with men in mind.

    Yeah, that's a very good idea. I can see why they haven't done it, though, as it would require modifications to the pitches (and leave holes in the middle of the men's goal posts?) and limit options in terms of stadiums.

    You could lower the goals, I suppose, quite easily.

    I had a meeting with school, they said they would play both. They entered girls teams into tournaments but boys not done much competitive rugby league.

    Fev Rovers offers to take a couple of teams to tourney in Warrington but try said maybe next year. Fev have given up on them now put putting all efforts into St Wilfred’s school which ironically was all rugby union when I was growing up.

    Basically RFU have given them 10k to play union and there’s a minimum requirement they have to meet
