Par for the course? Seems to me more like a triple bogey on a hole where all the wheels have fallen off your buggy, your playing partner holed in one and you seem not to have packed that get-out-of-jail-warm-glow comforting hip flask. How does a nationalist have no interest in his national team?
I did wonder why Ian didn’t mention England’s performance against those world giants Iceland ( population 350,000 and a Polar Bear)... but then you just have.
I think people have no interest in their national team is when they are really poor like Scotland we've had our moments ie. Iceland but we keep on supporting em.
Same way an Englishman is allowed to have no interest in the english badminton or polo teams. It ain't compulsory.
You think that a Scot Nat who proudly posts about his footballing Deeside pride and Tyke obsession, who ribs our eternal "it's coming home", who craves for Scottish independence, maybe might have an interest in his own national football team? He's obviously odd and unique, cos he's one of ours, from a distance. Only he knows why. We don't notice Scots so much down here cos we're probably married to one. The link is football though. And it's strange for a Scot to be divorced from the national team. Perhaps it's a denial thing - denying that their back garden lawn wasn't really from Wembley. What has any other extreme minority sport got to do with it?
I was working from home today so had it on. The pundits were bigging them up but looked pig sick by half time. Dreadful result but a worse performance.
Hey Toby why do you consider me odd and unique? I'm retired. Got time on my hands. Like football and could have supported man u like lots of other plastic fans. I chose Barnsley. Love the team and the banter on here. I give it out like when Iceland beat you but I also take it on the chin on nights like tonight. I have always been a fan of club football. International football has never grabbed me the same. I'm glad I chose BFC to follow and have met some great people in the process. Hope this helps but to call me odd and unique???
Yeah - odd and unique. No doubt about that. How many from afar choose to support us? Embrace it! As our club does you. The more the merrier. Odd and unique though they may be. And anyone who turns up at as you do at Oakwell whenever he can, well.. they show up the locals who don't appreciate what's on their doorstep - they're more committed supporters than most of us. Odd and unique.
Well Toby I personally know of 2. One posts occasionally on here who comes from Forfar and another who is a far more enthusiastic Barnsley fan than myself who lives in Clydebank.
Well to the best of my knowledge he really isn't interested in the Scottish team. It's not obligatory to like football and also follow your national team. There's a cart load on here who have been saying the same about England for years.
And England, at the moment, are surely a far better team than Scotland. I'd say the comparative calamity of the two defeats are about equal.
Aww Ian matey, whats happened eh ?. Your McJocky McScotchland FC team have just been beaten and battered and bruised by the club equivalent of Frickley Athletic.
Haha I'm surprised you were not on here earlier to put your boot into me. I've no argument mate. Terrible result but comes as no surprise these days. I'm immune to it all now. My thoughts are all on our game v Alloa tomorrow mate. Fortunately I'll get to see the Reds before going to the game. Hopefully 2 wins.
