Don’t get me wrong, I’m not massively concerned that he’ll play Saturday. But... He’s made five appearances in all comps this season, failing to keep a clean sheet in all. He’s conceded 8 goals, 3 of them in his 2 league fixtures. By quirk, one of them was against Walsall at home, he’ll play them twice this season in only three league appearances assuming Davies plays the rest. Yes the cup games had changed sides so clearly it’s not just Davies not being there that influences goals (Jordan Smith kept a clean sheet for us in the other league game Davo missed), but given the long run of clean sheets will go at some point, I’d suggest Saturday might well be a game too far when the skipper isn’t there. I just hope we bag two or three at the other end so it doesn’t matter.
Wasn’t his last game against the best team in the division? He was unlucky that day, penalty and an absolute freak goal in the second half.
And of the 2 goals conceded in the 3-2 win over Luton 1 was a penalty and the other a fluke miss-hit cross. Keep the faith.
He's part of the squad. Trains every day with Davo. I know he'll bust a gut for us tomorrow. He'll do for me.
[QUOTE="Micky Finn, post: 2266291, member: 6807"............ I know he'll bust a gut for us tomorrow. .......[/QUOTE] Sincerely hope not. We've had enough bad luck with injuries this season as it is !
Davies has been great for us, particularly on Friday. However, someone watching the Wales game would be questioning why he was seen as great if they just watched that game. I'm.hoping we attack and press and the defence doesn't have much to do . I shall be shouting them on and I'm sure he'll be fine.
Davies has been much improved this season and although there have been occasions on which he has been largely responsible for clean sheets (i.e Donny), i feel that many of the clean sheets have been due to the performance of the outfield players limiting the chances created by the opposition. No major worries for me.
More worried about our performance at the other end, hopefully Brown and Mcgeehan will make a massive difference in attack.
In the same game he parried one poorly straight out to one of Luton’s forwards who scored but was flagged offside. I also thought that cross, whilst a fluke, ought to have been dealt with. There were also a couple of other times he looked jittery. Jack Walton is clearly a decent goalkeeper and may well go on to have a decent league career - and I think we have enough to win tomorrow - but I’m not convinced by him at all. I thought he was very shaky throughout that game.
You're pissing in the wind trying to get some people to admit that any of our cover is poor. They just see it as a body and anybody will do.
