Wakey's tried a few times down the years. It's just never taken off. Was always a rugby town. Everyone I knew down Belle Vue way was a Barnsley fan. 446 bus to tarn from outside The Castle Inn. Sundays for Trinity..

Wakey folk are either Leeds Utd or into rugby League. Trinity Cas or Rhinos.

Not south of the city, JT. Loads of good lads from Sandal, Walton, Crofton, Agbrigg, Newmillerdam went home and away back in the day. Barnsley was the nearest club!

I wonder if aquaforce guy is part of the set up too. Surely he'd have experience and advice for them.

Very true MF. Majority of folks where I worked were egg chasers, apart from a few Leeds United and Huddersfield fans
and a clutch of us who were born in South Yorkshire who supported either Sheffield United or the Reds.
Our Director and Personnel Officer were both Reds, so I was in their goods books. The Chairman of our Management
Committee was Barnsley Councillor Terry Dixon. He found out that I supported the Reds and asked me how often I
watched them. At that time I was supporting them home and away. I thought I'd get a pat on the back, but his response was,
" we must be paying thee too much."!!!!

I wonder what the reaction is at AFC Emley. In their opinion it's their club with Wakefield as bit-part glory hunters. A bit like Wimbledon/MK Dons.

Went to watch Emley a few times when they played in Wakefield and Glav was the manager, their fans always looked towards Huddersfield more and hated being in Wakefield. I think there is an appetite for a Wakefield club, plenty of football fans, but they obviously already support a club, I dare say they would go when Barnsley/Huddersfield/Leeds weren't playing - I know I would. Edit - I notice they're going to start at Pontefract Collieries, not going to drive 30 minutes to see them! They need to get Trin's ground sorted and get there.

Trinity have purchased belle view to do up instead of getting new ground. I’m sure it’s not a coincidence that this just been announced
