Of the clubs now in League 1, we were the second highest payers of fees to agents etc, for the year 1st Feb 2018 - 31st Jan 2019. Total just over £428,500. A distant second to Sunderland who paid just under £2.9 million.

I guess it's unlikely that things will change, and perhaps I'm showing my ignorance, but I don't fully understand or accept why clubs have to pay agents. I think players alone should pay them, just as we would pay a solicitor to undertake conveyancing on a house purchase etc. Would that start and contain the fees paid?

The figures across the league are interesting, the Premier League is eye-watering.

£260.6m: paid by Premier League clubs to agents in 2018-19, which doesn't include sums paid by players to agents.

£260.6m: the wages for all employees, not just players, at all 24 League Two clubs combined. For four years. (from @sportingintel) [IMG]

That's very unlike us actually. In recent years we've always been very near the bottom of that table, not second from top. Perhaps the figures for the Championship are much higher though

Don’t forget that some of that would be from when we were in Championship
