I think it’s fair to say that most on here have been angered and upset about what happened to our Head Coach on Saturday. And, in spite of the fact that some of us have little faith in the ‘authorities’ to sort it, we’re just going to have to let them get on with it. For me it’s important that we show Stendel how much we value him as a Coach and as a man. The first time we have that opportunity will be at 2.55 this Friday. I’d like to see the whole ground rising as one to acknowledge what we think of the amazing part he has played in our fortunes this season. He’s has been truly magnificent, not just as a Coach but in the way he has conducted himself since he came here. When we’ve paid our tribute, its time for the players to pay theirs. We’ve still got an automatic promotion to achieve. They (we) can do it: on and off the pitch. COYR
Looks very much as though the investigation as to what actually happened is now seriously underway. It's reported that Daniel has been interviewed by detectives from South Yorkshire Police. Would imagine that once they've established who saw what, inside the tunnel after the game, Barton will be interviewed. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...daniel-stendel-gives-detectives-account-joey/
I don't think it's a case of whether or not Daniel wishes to press charges. If an assault happened and there's a reasonable prospect of a guilty verdict the CPS will prosecute.
Why would we want to move on though? If it was assault, it was assault. You wouldn’t expect an attack in the street to go unpunished and if it did folk would moan like buggery at lack of police action. If it was something else then that would be different
I think the OP has a great point, hopefully South Yorkshire's finest for once will find the truth and act accordingly, meanwhile for the unity and togetherness of the crowd and the club we need to show Daniel how much we are behind him, which will hopefully spur the players on to perform at their best.
It needs to be continous from the off like we did when john hendrie was manager i recall Ponte end singing johnny hendrie red and white army for abart half hour. Great days. Stendel needs us lets do it lads and lasses.
I think the less said the better. Imagine how you'd feel if you'd been beat up in front of your peers. You'd feel like a bit of a fanny. Stendel probably feels the same. There will be some I imagine think he's soft now. I hope he's ok mentally.
Give over, its sounds like he has been shoved from behind, I'm sure he is shook by the whole thing and would rather not dwell on it but to suggest he's "soft" is just insulting and basically victim blaming.
Im sure the club have boxed this off, main focus will be the game Friday and hopefully the team galvanised even more. Need to be careful though, weve got beef with these cloggers for early on in the season when they 'did' Dougall. We need to harness this togetherness in outrage and channel it against the teams were playing. Main thing is Daniel knows where we stand, and thats right behind him like weve been all season. The ground needs to be rocking, reverberating to sound of his name being chanted in unison. Its our chance to let him know what the folks of Barnsley feel about the man and his team, its our time to play our part in this promotion run in... COYR.
Exactly. I'm sure Dale Tonge can talk to the lads & channel the anger & frustration into something positive. We have a young squad, but one that has stayed focused in adversity before, like the win at southend.
I agree time to move on. My prediction is:- - Police wont go any further with this, no charges pressed and I wouldn't expect to hear anything else from them - No EFL or FA action. Ref didn't see it etc - Fans will back Daniel and he will get a good ovation on Friday - Fans will remember and we will hear more as time goes on about what should and shouldn't be done and will create a touch point the next time the clubs meet. - Fleetwood will do nothing more and carry on as usual. - The sending off Red Card will not be rescinded - Barton will be involved in some other controversy in future
Completely agree. We should all come together and turn this into a chance to show our appreciation and support for him plus it might turn into an advantage on the pitch. I think a few of us should get German flags to raise as the teams come out...
