The top team gets promoted then the next SIX are involved in play offs - how are the fixtures between these six teams worked out?
I think it's the same as in the National League - the top two teams in the playoffs advance immediately to the semi-final, which is one leg with home advantage. The next two teams then play the bottom two teams in the playoffs, also over one leg with home advantage, with the winners progressing to the semi-final.
Wednesday 1st May 2019 Eliminator – Match A – AFC Fylde vs Harrogate Town (kick-off: 7pm) Thursday 2nd May 2019 Eliminator – Match B – Wrexham vs Eastleigh (kick-off: 7pm) Saturday 4th May 2019 Semi Final – Solihull Moors vs winner of Match A (kick-off: 12.30pm) Sunday 5th May 2019 Semi Final – Salford City vs winner of Match B (kick-off: 3.30pm) Saturday 11th May 2019 Promotion Final- Wembley Stadium (kick-off: 3pm)
I'd like to see three teams come up each year from the national league, although I understand there would be opposition to it. There's some great clubs knocking on the football league door.
I agree but no need for 6 teams. I would do it like this: Eliminator = 5th v 6th Semi Final = 4th v Winner of Eliminator Final = 3rd v Winner of Semi Final. 1 leg per tie, no away goals rule
I’ve seen a lot of national league football this year, 20 of the 24 clubs are full time, the top 10 would all do ok in league 2. It’s a cracking league, no segregation half the time, wander around the ground as you want just like the old days!
Quite like that. The only problem is by the time the 3rd placed team plays the final, it would their first game in nearly a month.
I think 4 southern teams have been relegated from the conference this season how does that work then because i assume they cant all drop into conf south ?
It depends on the geography of the teams promoted from the divisions below as well. Hereford last year were promoted from the Southern Division but ended up in the National North due to the fact that there were too many teams south of them already there. So either teams while swap leagues, or a team promoted from a southern league will move into a northern league. It’s probably a little annoying for the teams in the middle of the country.
You've been watching too much Rugby League mate. Theirs is the most convoluted playoff system known to man!
