Has now won promotion from Conference, League 2, League 1 and Championship. Has any other manager ever achieved that?
Hes a Sheffield Utd supporter, just like any other. At home youll find him in his blades wallpapered room, with blades curtains, posters of nick montgomery and 2006 team, doing his wifes head in about days gone by, when they beat the piggies in 1976. The thing that seperates him from the ones in the stands, though, is he wins things in real life, not on 24 hour soccer manager sessions.
And you know something, good luck to him. As much as I detest all things deedar, at least he's a genuine fan come player come manager. Hope they enjoy their time in the sun, unfortunately for them it won't last.
He’s won promotion to the Premeir League with old has beens and scrapings up. He’s spent very little - but obviously the Blunts are paying decent wages - but not big wages compared to others in that league. As Wilder said a few months ago - if it relied on budgets then Sheffield United would be in the bottom 5 or there abouts. Take all those things into consideration and it could be argued that Wilder is the best manager in the football league. Moving on to next season - it’s going to be interesting as Sheffield United are a relatively poor club. McCabe hasn’t that much money to spend, there’s huge dept at the club and he’s in dispute with the other owner the fake sheik - so I’m not expecting them to spend much and as a result they are likely to be on the end of some big hidings next season. Which will be nice.
No your right, Runners-Up League 2 09/10 Runners-Up League 1 12/13 Champions Championship 14/15 And that was with a spell at Burnley in the middle
The thing that has got me regarding wilder is he has done a great job, players done well and they have been competitive all season, yet Wilder is talking as if everyone wrote them off and have been anti Sheff Utd. "They" "People" "No one" gave em a chance, prove all the doubters and naysayers wrong and everyone who have slagged em off. He has said this several times. All i have heard is Talksport, BBC, Sky Sports, BT, Quest pressing them through the season for their good high tempo play, consistency and have given em a chance. Radio Sheff been all over em and even Wednesday fans recognising how well they have done and recognised earlier in the season they were in with a shout. So who are these people that Wilder refers to? Or is it a case of him positioning them now from being a massive club to being the underdog victims who, against all the odds and them against the world, achieved a miracle
Hopefully he'll find his lips soon, and his Sheffield accent. Cos he hasn't had either of those on display. Sounds like a Coventrt accent to me. I'm not a big fan of him or his radio interviews, but credit where it's due, he's done a good job there.
I used to live there, (Coventry) and I've lived in Sheffield the last 20 years, and he definitely sounds more Cov than Deedar!
His interviews don’t half drone on huh?! It’s really great coming back from our games listening to him going on and on for 20 minutes. Seems to know football management though.
Cliche after cliche about winning football matches, boys in the group, and being out on the park. Why do football people talk in their own daft language? Starts with "Listen...... " It's the radio, we are listening!
After being exiled from Yorkshire aged five, returning from 18-24 then leaving again, I don't have much of an accent left at all.
