Absolutely. Also Fujimitsu FX-750 Camera Lenses, Japanese made ones better than ones made in Blaslavia.
Sekonda watches are just as good as Seiko. Similar designs, cheaper at half the price. The real deal.
Japanese made models tend to have better sell-on value etc but I’ve found minimal difference between the two in reality. For example, the Japanese SKX007 (SKX007J1) goes for £20-40 more than the SKX007K1. I’ve owned both and found no real differences in quality between the two. If you have the opportunity to get either at the same price point I’d go with Japanese for value retention purposes, otherwise just go for whatever you can get a better deal on.
Agree SD. Bought my wife a Sekonda Seksy wristwatch as part of my wedding anniversary gifts to her after she mentioned she liked them. We went out for a meal to the Qubana Mexican Bar and grill in Wakefield a couple of weeks ago. The watch is encrusted with crystals and it looked amazing under the exotic lighting in there. A couple of ladies made a comment as to how nice it looked and asked what make it was. It keeps excellent time and my Mrs likes it. As the saying goes, happy wife, happy life.
I bought my first Seiko in Gib when I was 16. Now have three one dress watch one everyday and one for a change, I know that there is the other brand that is made by them in the end but once a Seiko user you seem to stick with them.
Interesting I had a Seiko a long time ago and it worked fine for a good few years but then it died and wasnt economic to repair and I replaced it with a Fossil which I have been more than happy with ( and as a gardening and playing sports watch I bought a €9.99 MWB watch in Carrefour which has worked well for a good 5 years now - though I did need to replace the strap last year)
Not all Patek Philippe watches are using their own movements, some have a Jaeger Le-Coultre movement. What a ****** eh.
[QUOTESekonda watches are just as good as Seiko. Similar designs, cheaper at half the price. The real deal.[/QUOTE] No they are not. The older Sekonda mechanical watches had Russian movements made by Poljot, the later models had better 'Myota' movements. Neither were as good as the 'in house' Seiko movements. The modern 'Grand Seikos' are superb watches and quite collectable, albeit pricey at £5500. Best value automatics are German and British watches with Swiss ETA and Sellita movements from companies like Steinhart and Christopher Ward. If you want something to retain its value don't buy a quartz.
Or Korea. Or Singapore. Basically the non-Japan models, made in a variety of places. I actually only started the thread for a laugh after the ‘Line Of Duty watches’ thread!

Love imported Seikos (use Creation Watches) - models you just can’t get here. Got an OM Black Monster and a Neo Monster-Lite. Would love a Grand Seiko - they are just beautiful. Treated myself to an Omega Speedmaster moonwatch a few years back - award for 25 years service - which comes out for special occasions.
