I've thought about this a lot since Tuesday and of all the variables I think it's either us or Luton.
I've been thinking the same since last Saturday TR 92. Most of the papers and pundits seem to be tipping Luton to end up as Champions. For me, its a hard one to call. They have appointed the former assistant manager of Belgium and West Brom ,Graeme Jones as their new boss, although he doesn't officially take charge until the 7th May, so the team will be keen to impress. I'm hoping that their opponents tomorrow Oxford United who don't have much to play for, apart from their pride, take the game really seriously and have a real go, like Peterborough did against Portsmouth on Tuesday evening. Whatever happens tomorrow, like many other Reds devotees, I truly consider that this season has been extremely successful and even more of a surprise , given the fact that we did it with a Coach who had never been involved with any Club in the UK before, but seemed to settle in really quickly to guide a squad with probably the lowest average age in all four divisions. to promotion. We need to win tomorrow and not concern ourselves with what might be happening elsewhere and hope that Luton do slip up so that we end up as Champions. If that were to happen, Town will be the place to be, for a great night out tomorrow.
My thoughts are with the pressure of Luton are a lot more likely to dr the win than if Pompey had been breathing down both our necks. Hopefully the reverse is true and they relax and we nip in.
0 - 7 at Bristol and I'm not sure it matters what Luton do! Think the lads are thinking about it too. But we're up and that's the main thing.
Last time we were in this position I went to the Manor Ground to see us lose 5-1! To be fair, we couldn’t win the league, the lads had bee on the lash all week and nobody cared. Still a great day out and some iconic images of the Barnsley end which will live on long beyond the score that day and the poor old Manor Ground.
