Bit bored this morning and was looking through some players at other clubs in league 1 and 2 who were of a good standard and out of contract.

James Norwood aged 28 Tranmere scored 91 in 186 games including 31 goals this season

Tom Eaves aged 26 6 ft 5 target man

Jake Forster-Caskey aged 25 Charlton aged 25 central midfielder just back to full fitness after injury

Patrick Bauer aged 26 Charlton 6 ft 3 German centre half

Marcus Maddison aged 25 Peterborough winger regular goal scorer and goal creator

Age may probably against them all given our recent recruit process but just posting it out of interest and showing a small cross section of the calibre of player available for free this Summer but would possibly be within our wage structure.

Don't think that any of these would be an improvement on what we have, nor are they likely to develop into such.

I think we'll see more players like Woodrow, young prospects who have struggled to really establish themselves.

Think we’ll see couple of German players think striker and centre back.
Seem able to adapt quite well plus bosses connections

Wouldn't be surprised to see some loans coming over from our French friends...

Possible German and Nice players I'd imagine after Conways interview. There will also be astro around the pitch, LED ad boards around the perimeter and a new scoreboard.

I suggested Enoch Kwateng in a different thread due to him being out of contract this summer (whether he’d move to a tier 2 side is anyone’s guess though). Otherwise there’s Joe Aribo and Andre Green available, both of which are young, highly promising talents that would undoubtedly be excellent additions to the squad.

Think this is totally the wrong way to go in the Championship. Very disappointing. All well and good filling the squad with Nice players, but you need those Nasty players to balance it out and get decisions etc.

He did say they had the players identified but it was hard to attract them with League 1 football. Nice was also a no go with being in the third tier and maybe could be visited in the future.

There are players in this squad that are valued in and around that now. I’m just saying, if the board needed a statement of intent to cement Barnsley as a mid to top half championship side in these next couple of years, we need to be looking at players of a value similar to that.

I don’t know, I think we should wait and see. This window’s going to be the first real insight into the intentions of the new owners since they took over meaning which ever way it goes, these next couple of months will be some of the most interesting (and possibly surprising) in well over a decade at the club.

My thoughts on our current squad for next season.:
    1st Team
    Davies, Pinnock, Mowatt,McGeeghan, Woodrow, Moore.
    Squad Place.
    Lindsay,Ben and J Williams, Dougall, Styles, Brown,Bahre.
    Loaned out.
    Walton,Green,Miller.
    Leaving
    Cavare, Pinillos,Fryers,Jackson,Moncur, Thiam,Adebajayo, Hedges.
I know this list will disappoint people but based on how the Championship plays these days, some of our team aren't quite ready. I hope we build a team like David Wagner's Huddersfield, championship team, playing positive attacking football with athletic players.

Disagree regarding Lindsay, J Williams, Bahre, Dougall, plus Brown to an extent. I genuinely believe all of them have the quality to start.

Adeboyajo should be loaned to a League 1 team. Pinillos is a decent second string player and I'd trust him as a dependable back up. Improvement is definitely needed out wide in both attack and defence.

Due to the prospect/idea of selling players on for profit. I think loanees will be minimal. If any.
