Don’t want to point out the obvious but that’s not Jack walton Barnsley goalkeeper. Still a good message nevertheless
Yes I was hoping that somebody had noticed that. It would have been a little funnier had it been the goalkeeper. It isn’t. I’m sure it’s ‘the real’ Jack Walton though - just not that one!!
He actually did say that. Mentioned he still has a lot of friends here and hasn’t got anything bad to say about the club. Although he did part with “if they don’t appreciate talent it can come back and bite you”
Fact is that nowt has come back to bite us. We've sold Bradshaw and Potts and when players were injured and suspended, much was made of our poor January and how it would scupper our season. It didn't. As talented as Moncur night think he is, he couldn't hold down a place with us or Luton Town in league one,. Of course it would have been nice to win the title, but I don't think anyone is really bothered at our end. We're just happy to be back in the Championship. Let's see if his talent earns him a regular start next season. My money would be on him not featuring very much. I think we all prefer talents that play week in and out and for full games.
I’m in complete agreement mate. I was a bit gutted when we lost Potts but Brown has certainly filled the gap he left and will improve year on year. Moncur wasn’t a loss for me and I’d also be surprised if he nails a place. But who cares, better to focus on the players we have than those we did
He clearly lacks a bit of emotional judgement at times and struggles a bit after 70 mins but he has been a revelation for us (not sure if that is the Christian Revelation) 6 goals in the equivalent of five games - really important goals as well. Add in a number of assists and he is a definite for next season - he does display real class. Like you say though, it my all be different next season especially if the rest of the team is not a well oiled machine
Problem is you will be playing on the back foot more often, and his woeful tracking back against Burton should give an idea of how poor he can be in that regard.
I don't think he ever settled up north to be honest. I think a move closer to home for him was best for all parties. Lots of talent without doubt, but when the going gets tough, which I'm sure it will at times next season, he's usually the first to disappear. I hope for him and for Luton he's added a bit more steel to his game, as the Championship is clearly not a league where anyone can be carrying passengers.
He's certainly done better with you. He's scored 6 goals in 14 games. Only managed 5 in 67 with the reds. Not all starts though. At 25 years old, there is a chance for him to improve his game, no doubt. What makes me doubt him is that McGeehan and Mowatt were rarely near the first team last season. Both sent out to league one clubs on loan. This season all our players were given a clean slate by the new manager and both of those lads took their chance and have excelled, along with kenny Dougal and Jacob Brown. Moncur was 5th choice really. Fitness is a big thing with Stendel because of the way we press, and it's rumoured he picks players based on how well they train. Even Harford has said he needs a pre season, but he's had 2 preseasons with us and still isn't fit. We'll keep our eye on him and see which way it goes for him, but I think he's a bit of a lazy bugger and that'll always make him a cameo player.
Unless we are near each other in league position for something important again next season he’ll stop caring. The only games I’ve ever seen him play well in are against former clubs and then he becomes suddenly amazing. I swear he only played that well for you to stop us being champions.
