I think he’s been looking at furthering his career for some time. Don’t blame him. He owes us nothing and we owe him this promotion. He was outstanding and became even more outstanding as the season went on. Good luck to the Lad. He has my very best wishes. In terms of his replacement, he’s already here. We can deal with this loss.
I have a good mate who is a town fan he thinks they will be trying to offload players and get the wage bill down. I think mooy was one of their top earners on 50k a week but he expects him to be sold. Huddersfield would pay more than us but is be surprised if they gave Davies a 2 or 3 year deal on 30k a week.
I would imagine that he was offered a contract, and he has turned it down , and bet on himself that he can perform at higher level and get himself a better deal from either ourselves or another club. Fair play to him I say , he has gambled and to all intents and purposes won as I would assume he is in line for a better deal financially than what we has been offered previously.
My apologies. Didn't realise Woodrow, Dougall, B Williams, J Williams, Green and Bahre all played in the Academy.
If Stoke give Davies that sort of money they’re absolutely ******* bonkers. Solid keeper and I’d like him to stay but that’s a hell of a lot of money for him.
Thinking back over the past season, we've actually (including the bench) used 5 goalkeepers over the season! Davies, Walton, Greatorex, Kendrick and that lad on loan from Forest. See, I've told you lot for ages that we need 5 goalkeepers...
Why not. Free agent, no transfer fee, Welsh International and has Championship experience. Also has years to develop more and for a keeper, not in his prime yet. His weakest link was kicking - which I think has improved this season quite a lot. It’s not about whether he is necessarily worth that, but more about who else is available for that money or less and what you get for it. His stock is rightly high - best of luck to him.
I agree. If he wasn’t deemed good enough, he wouldn’t have been given a new contract. He’s probably a better bet than someone coming in from outside who doesn’t know anybody. If the club don’t deem him quite ‘ready’, then he’ll go out on loan early doors with someone else lined up on a 12 month contract. With keepers, they need game time more than anyone else to get better.
He was but so were most of the team; he was far from being the only one. Most of us knew it was a temporary dip in form and that a lot of the loss of form was due to circumstances. He hadn't just become a poor keeper. I honestly believe he is championship quality and it's going to cost us a lot of money to replace him with a keeper equally as good, unless we drop lucky.
I hope not. I’d keep him as a number 2 but not for me, at least not yet. I’ve only seen his first team games for us, and he did ok compared to a shot confidence Davies when he came in last season, but he didn’t fill me with confidence this season at all when called upon.
Completely agree with you Mario. However, as we seem to "drop lucky" quite a lot with our unknown signings, so I'm confident that if Adam does leave, he'll be more than adequately replaced. Or if the management team decides to shell out on a proven goalie, I'm totally fine with that as well.
