Received a call on my mobile from 01226 051851 this morning. Recognising the area code thought it might be family or friends. No, apparently someone has informed them that I have been in a car crash, not my fault, blah, blah, blah which I havent. Ignore if you get the call. First time I've seen the barnsley code used.
Got the very same call this morning too, first it was a car accident, then any accident before hanging up
Had that myself, a lady called Olivia. I told her I hadn’t and she said ‘can you hold’ told her no and hung up.
I got one too yesterday on 01226 036757. Answered as I was worried it might be about my parents. Signal was terrible and couldn’t really hear anything but could tell it was an automated voice.
I got one but ignored it, put it straight on block list. Looks like someone is spoofing numbers from the area they are phoning.
Big brother is watching. If you don't recognise the number don't answer it. Check the number on Google it's usually ********.
Haha funnily enough I got similar last night. 01226 042328. So which one of you lot tried to get in touch with me?
There are more knowledgeable tech guys than me on here, but when I inadvertently answer a call on one of these sorts of numbers I always turn the phone off and back on just to make sure they don't pull the old 'open line' scam. Be interested if any more tech-savvy members agree with this.
Me and my dad have had similar calls this last week. I don't live in the area anymore either which is even more confusing.
My wife gets similar calls every week but to her mobile. It's really annoying. They are basically encouraging folk to attempt to commit fraud.
I once kept on on the line for quite a while while I told them about the accident I had in my car, she seemed to lose interest after about 5 minutes when I told her it happened in 1992.
Might be one of our lads who like myself Ian, sincerely hope that you get the right results next Tuesday and Friday. What a season it will be, if your beloved Arabs can emulate the Reds and achieve promotion, particularly as the Club down the road from Tannadice Park have been relegated to the Championship. You'll certainly be able to claim the bragging rights in Bonny Dundee if that happens.
My partner had the HMRC scam call. She didn’t answer but checked the number and it was the correct number. I found that there’s a way of cloning the number ( number spoofing) so it appears it’s coming from a valid number. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/n...ne-scams-that-tell-victims-they-owe-p1-000s-/
I have a very simple rule when anyone calls me. I don’t answer a single security question, they called me so I’m not going to prove myself to them. They want to speak to me not the other way around. I never even confirm my name but always reply to ‘Is that Mrs JamDrop?’ with ‘who’s calling please?’ and then treat the rest of the call with suspicion. Although 3 did call me once wanting to double my allowance for free but I told them I didn’t believe it was them and declined. I then got a text and email after hanging up from them saying that I had chosen to decline the offer and could I give feedback on their customer service. Oops.
our local code is 01427 and I've had scam calls down the years from numbers on the caller display beginning with 01427. I've no idea how it's done but it's not on when you answer a local call to hear "Hello is that Mr Badger blah blah blah..." If i have my music on in the garage I usually say "I'll go and get him, please hold while I fetch him" and give the poor person his 4 or 5 minutes of jazz before they hang up.
