After missing out on promotion from Division 2. https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2019/may/club-statement/
https://www.mansfieldtown.net/matches/results/ Including the play offs it's 1 win in 7 and 3 wins in 13. They were on course for automatic promotion with ease and totally blew it. I imagine he's been backed massively like he was with both us (getting training paid for away from Oakwell when we've perfectly good facilities at the ground) and Bury (how many times as Gigg Lane been remortgaged to gamble on promotion these past few years?) so it looks the right decision.
Not a surprise to read this tweet and that they have already appointed a cheap option replacement, so after a few years of chasing promotion are probably looking at budget cuts now.......
Sadly it seems inevitable in the today's game. Some Clubs set targets before the season starts and if the Manager / Coach doesnt deliver, the outcome is usually inevitable. The Chelsea boss seems to be pushing his case in a bid to stay at Stamford Bridge, by pointing out that as a minimum,he was told when the season started, that he had to deliver European Champions League qualification. He's done that, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least , that when it's confirmed that Hazard is leaving to join Real Madrid, Chelsea also announce that Sarri will is also be leaving.
I hate the modern way and hope Mansfield live to regret it. I like Flicker and will always remember him for the great escape. It surprises and saddens me that others appear to take pleasure in his sacking. I wish him well and a swift return to work.
