    Here's your challenge.............

I'm back recuperating from my operation and I have more than enough spare time on my hands and I'm pretty well stuck for reading matter - I had to stop my last year OU studies (re-commence Sept) because I'm almost housebound.

So I'm pretty well open to recommendations for reading - in fact I read (and ejnoyed) Jon Parkin's book whilst in Sheff NGH

I'd love any sporty (auto)biography or other of interest like Ricky Tomlinson

So please fire away with suggestions................

    Many, many thanks in advance...

COYR (back to back promotions pretty pretty please)

I've read a few books within the last few weeks and enjoyed them all. None of them are sports related but you might enjoy them.

To kill a Mockingbird (read it before but still thoroughly enjoyed it).
The Men Who Stare at Goats and Them: Adventures with Extremists both by Jon Ronson.
    The ISIS prisoner
    Radical by Maajid Nawaz

Pretty hard to believe but Dicky bird biography and Boycott on Boycott. Better reads than you may think. Gazza and Botham good reads. Avoid Jimmy Greaves and Tommy Docherty both boring as ****. But my favourite is.(and appears you’ve read it) Ricky Tomlinson a Brilliant read. Also non sporting. Billy Connolly. Hard upbringing and abused. ( *****)

Simon Jordan - Be Careful what you wish for. For me the best autobiography I've ever read. Former Palace chairman and a couple of BFC mentions in there.

Tony Cascarino's is a cracking read too.

Wifey has read all of his books many times - if you know of similar authors it'll earn me brownie points

Autobiographies and biographies are the most mind numbingly boring kinds of books ever commited to print. I hate them. I'm mad at myself for even talking about them.

A British soldier (Ernest Chapman ) from Wombwell fighting with the Greek partisans during WW2 .
I’ve recommended this book before on here and it’s gone down very well.
I worked with Ernest at Houghton Main as a young boy and when the story came out it was unbelievable.
Some of the things he did were nothing more than Heroic . I guarantee you’ll enjoy it . It’s not a thick book I read it in one session but it’s enthralling and really is an insight into the Partisan movement during the war .

Nothing to do with sport, but if you like history then try Patrick O'Brien's series of 21 novels covering life in Nelson's navy. Meticulously researched, beautifully written and full of life and colour. They've been called Jane Austen at sea.
