Like playing against the AI on Fifa... they're very good and I like a lot of their players but the way they have been assembled as a club (i.e. by ploughing tonnes of money into it) has taken the shine off it for me. I can't get excited about it and really wish I could.
Hated every minute of it. Guardiola is a great guy and City have some quality players, but nah, that's not football that I knew and loved.
It’s more than just money Churton mate, Pep has coached this team to be magnificent. We’ve seen clubs had ridiculous money thrown at them to absolutely no effect. This time it’s worked.
One in particular - John Stones. I know exactly what you mean about it losing its gloss but I really enjoy seeing John do well for City and England.
Also, if Chien were to splash the cash and we had a dominating, skilled team like City I suspect the crowds would not decrease back down to the faithful five thousand
If you look at the money pumped into clubs over the past ten years City outstrip the rest. I don't argue that they're a good team or that they have a good coach but it's all totally hollow to me. It's like pretend footy on the computer. All subjective mate but in comparison to what Clough did with Forest for example...it doesn't even begin to compare.
Like in most jobs a lot of it is down to what you have to work with. When you've got some of the world's best players it's easier to produce one of the world's best teams than when you've only got mediocre ones.
They could have fielded the team they used in the earlier rounds (which was still worth Trillions) but no, they chose Final Day to 'respect' the competition. Sorry, but it all leaves a bad taste. And as for the rest catching up, they'll not do that unless they find corporate ownership worth billions who are willing to treat them as an expensive hobby.
