I'm looking at trying to pull something together band wise. Anyone? I sing a lot of stuff like Johnny Cash, Chris Rea, Garth Brooks, Neil Diamond plenty of others. Currently just singing to backing tracks solo, wanting to move to a live sound.
I play guitar but if I'm honest, I'm not very good, more of a guitar collector and noodler.... Besides which I'm 63 and live in South Derbyshire. Good luck with finding somebody.
Well I can strum a few chords on the guitar, but I wouldn’t pay to watch/ listen me. I would like to say ask my family but strangely enough they never seem to be around when they know I’m going to the guitar out. Really wish I was at a level where I could play in a band. Good luck anyway.
I still keep my Fender Strat and Vox modelling amp in good order, but my last public performance with my band was in 1980 at Farm Road Club. A sorry affair - our bassist unexpectedly went on holiday to Bridlington leaning us to fulfil the engagement as a rather hollow-sounding three piece! It being Feast Week, and the club being rather empty, the Hon Concert Secretary seized gratefully on the opportunity to pay us off at half time! Shortly after, Lady Kaht came in to my life and the rest - as they say- is history! At least we lived the dream for a while!
Can do a few chords (played live a couple of year ago) and can keep a rhythm on drums. Miles away from being a prodigy but its still fun.
The best place for finding people I found was joinmyband.co.uk found many musicians the past few years as well as our current drummer. Just post an ad under the Yorkshire section about what you’re after and the type of music etc.. What I would say is keep posting if you don’t get a response immediately and you’ll find the right people eventually. Good luck with it!
Me and my friend cover Wolfe tones music (Irish rebel) Stuff like fields of Athenry and let the people sing. Different vibe but we can think of an anthem for us XD get the town well and truely heated up!
My cousin was guitarist /vocals with the porch lizards. They've split now, he might be able to help. At one point they had banjo, dobro, mandolin and double bass and played the genre of music you mention(more bluegrass). He is Sheffield based and I can put you in touch if you like. Good luck.
I've got a Fender Strat and a Fender Mustang (20W) modelling amp. I've also got an Epiphone "Black Beauty" Les Paul (3 pickups like Bob Fripp used to play). I've got a Tanglewood Electro Acoustic and a Fender F65 Jumbo (I bought it in 1974 from a shop in Sheffield at the bottom of The Moor, it's now in Spain at my sister's). The most unusual guitar is Fender Squire Precision Bass which as a story behind it. A work mate asked for advice on a bass for his son and several years later the lad went in the Army. His mum & dad told him to leave his rubbish in a pile in his bedroom and he left the bass. His dad was mortified and told me. I offered him £50 for it which he accepted. It was in poor condition with BCFC scratched into the paintwork (Birmingham City - yuk). He had contacts in the paint repair shop at Castle Bromwich (Jaguar assembly plant where we worked) so I dismantled it and rubbed it down etc and it was duly painted in Jaguar Racing Green. The scratch plate went to the trim shop and was covered in Walnut Veneer.
Guitar and mandolin. Played in bands over the years. Done nothing for last 12 years. Still got my Tak but completely out of touch now. Let me know.
When I did play in a band (late 80's to mid 90's) I had two Rickenbackers, a black & white one & a sunburst & a 63' Vox AC 30 They all got sold in the early 2000's when my record shop went under. A few years back, when I had a decent year I bought a Heritage Les Paul Gold Top, which occasionally I annoy my neighbours with.
Our three sons are all Metal fans and take in live shows on a fairly regular basis. They always comment that they have a buzzing in their ears after most of the gigs they attend. Can't be doing their " lug oyles" any good. One son used to go to Wacken in Germany every year and he was telling me that when one band struck up, the noise was so loud, you could see people at the front who's heads were literally wobbling.
I have tinnitus from going to gigs and playing guitar... I wish i'd have worn ear protection at gigs and looked after them better. May not be 'cool' but id advise them to buy some musician's ear plugs. You can't see them in the dark and sounds better with them in anyway!!
