    I know, I know.:)
I'll go and lay down in a darkened room. I'll refuse to enjoy our first automatic promotion in 22 years, seeing us with the best defence in the entire EFL, obtain a club record 91 points, be unbeaten at home in the league for an entire season for the first time in 51 years, get 5 players into the PFA Division 1 Team of the Year, get 4 players into the EFL Division 1 Team of the Year alongside our Head Coach being EFL Manager of the Year with that side and getting 2 players in the EFL Team of the Year for all the three Divisions.

Well - it’s currently a small young squad.
As always we need a good squad - a good team will not be good enough - unless we are super lucky and don’t suffer any suspensions or injuries.

If Davies leaves we need another goalkeeper.
We have 2 great centre backs - but we need 2 back ups.
Another defensive centre midfielder wouldn’t go amiss.
I think Thiam will struggle in the Championship so I hope Green and Brown lift their game to Championship level. We definitely need two attacking midfielders / wingers if they don’t.
We may need a tall old fashioned centre forward as cover for Moore.
And we definitely need quality cover for Woodrow.

So if we bring in about 6 to 8 players that can hit the ground running then I’ll be happy.
Especially with back up from the younger players.

6-8 signings that can hit the ground running, not even accounting for replacements for players that may leave? Are you on crack?

Where’s the money for the transfer fees and wages coming from for these 6-8 championship standard players? You’re looking at £70,000/week AT LEAST for that many championship standard players, or £3.6 million (ish) for the year. That’s probably doable, assuming that these are all free transfers, which I’m sure our highness, Lord Nudger would not be impressed with. So you’re looking at likely 2/3 million per player in transfer fees, which will get you high league 1 standard player (again, will you even be happy with top League 1 players?).

So can you tell me where £23 million is going to come from for your wish list?

That’s not even taking into account the fact that existing players will want pay rises if we’re bringing in new players at £10k/week.

    Am I on crack?
    No I’m not.
But I’m sat here thinking about it having read your drivel.

How about answering the question? Where is the money coming from for your wish list?

What you worrying for? It’s only May.

Every season we sign players & release some. If the squads like this in July then you’d have every right to post this

Because we’re always in the same boat at this time of the year. We always release players & then we always sign new ones.

It just seems like scaremongering for no reason. If we got to pre-season & we’d not recruited anyone I could understand it

This reads to me like you're plucking figures out of your arse to suit your argument. How many league One standard players go for £3m?

Some of the responses in this thread show why this forum is going down the shitter. Nudger is allowed an opinion whether you agree with him or not. If you don't agree with him debate with or don't open the chuffing thread. If you want to have a disagreement with him (or anyone else) disagree with the post and not abuse the poster. There are some utter fuckwits on this forum who can't get that into their heads. It's pointless them being on here.

In 2018/19 8 players left league 1 for over £2 million. 6 of those were over £3 million.

Correct, but Nudger is wanting 6-8 championship standard players to "hit the ground running". That has to be the very top of league 1, or mid championship, no?

I have to say, however, looking closer at my stats, it's rather disingenuous. A couple of those were Sunderland players that played for them in the Premier League, who had been out on loan for a season, so my apologies for that.

Players are going to be expensive if we want to follow the strategy because younger players tend to be part way into a long term contract. Championship standard players will be available on a free but will be deemed too old.

    Exactly.
I’ve been saying the same thing for a long while now.

All I’m doing in the initial thread is saying that IMO the CURRENT squad looks a bit threadbare for the Championship - and I think we need another 6 to 8 players.

Sorry Conan, I don't think this forum is going down anything and I suspect most feel the same. Just because your views might not be mainstream but that doesn't mean the forum is crap because of it.
Nudger posts regularly. His opinions are intentionally or otherwise daft/extreme/repetitive. Fine. If that's what he wants to post let him go ahead. People do debate him. I think you'll find that when his points are challenged he's the one who stops debating.....until a couple of weeks have passed and he brings up the same point again.
