Twitter post - Livingston FC regretfully announce that Goalkeeper Liam Kelly has asked for a transfer release clause in his contract to be triggered allowing him to move onto pastures new. Could he be heading south as a replacement for the expected departure of Adam Davies to Stoke???
Reads like he's his choice of a few championship clubs..... https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport...am-kelly-triggers-livingston-release-16254779
Observation from watching video, no doubt he is a good shot stopper, but can't recall seeing him catch ball once parried every time. Could get caught out playing at higher level.
Not for me. As JTT says he parries the ball far too much. He would find he'd be punished for that in the Championship. We need someone who can command the area and is able to quickly start our attacks through accurate distribution. In the video, Kelly seems to either deflect the ball out of play, or push it away, leaving his defenders to clear the ball and concede either a throw in or a corner. We'd be forever "on pins " with him in goal, so I hope he ends up at QPR.
Goalkeeping coaches tell goalkeepers not to catch but to parry the ball away as it’s considered a safer option.
Never knew that IK. I'm not happy with that though. There are some sharp strikers around that will bury any rebounds. Much prefer to see a keeper catching or smothering the ball to be honest.
Yeah, if you look at the foreign keepers in European games they virtually never catch a ball. It’s deemed safer to parry the ball away, a good keeper is supposed to push it away from the danger zone, the theory being if you try to catch it you might fumble or spill it and then it’s definately in the danger area
We're back to this crap are we. Reminds me of January when the choice was someone from the Conference North or Will Grigg.
Bit like Davies then according to Stoke fans...... http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/post/6425840/thread
